The regional newspaper Le Provençal reported on page 12 for October 20, 1954, that in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer on October 17, 1954, around 4 a.m., Mr. Casimir André, going on a hunt with a mpoed, had his attention attracted by a powerful glow coming from the Boulevard de la Plage.
Taking this boulevard, he was suddenly stopped at "a certain distance" and his vehicle no longer advanced. The light extinguished, and he was able to continue, particularly impressed, his trip.

Sunday morning around 4 hours, Mr. Casimir André going to hunting on motorbike, had his attention drawn by a powerful gleam coming from the boulevard de la Plage [boulevard of the Beach].
Having to go through this boulevard, he was suddenly stopped at a certain distance and his vehicle did not advance any more. When the gleam went out, he was able to resume his travel, particularly impressed.
One hour later, Mr. Leon Baudouvin, city council man, passing at this place with his car, saw a circular machine emitting a purple gleam, rise in the airs, leaving behind itself a trail of flames.

Monday, around 6 p.m., Mrs. Bernard Panizzi, living on 3, rue de la Casernette, in Nimes, saw in the sky above les Halles [the Markets], a mysterious machine affecting the shape of a neon tube.
Some twenty people followed the evolutions of the strange apparatus which disappeared suddenly.

Jimmy Guieu indicates that on October 17, 1954, at 4 o'clock in the morning in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer in the Var, Casimir A went hunting by motorcycle when his attention was drawn by a powerful gleam coming from the Boulevard de la Plage.
He had to use this boulevard but was suddenly stopped, his vehicle did not advance anymore.
At the end of a while the gleam turned off and he was able to drive again. Casimir A was strongly impressed.

The two authors indicate that in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer in the department of the Var, on October 17, 1954 at 04:00 a.m., a first witness, Casimir A., went hunting, riding a motorcycle, when his attention was drawn by a powerful gleam coming from the boulevard of the beach.
Going onto this boulevard, he was suddenly stopped at a certain distance, and his vehicle did not advance any more.
At the end of a few moments, the mysterious light turned off and his motorcycle could start again.

The authors indicate that the newspapers are accustomed to deforming testimonys of meteors by their observers and that it was the case with the sightingd in Froncles, Lencouacq, Saint Car sur Mer "etc".

Jean Sider quotes the ufologist Michel Figuet indicating that on October 17, 1954, at 4 o'clock, in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer in the Var, Mr. Casimir A., who he remained anonymous, was riding his motorcycle when he suddenly noticed a weird gleam and his motorcycle ceased to function. At the end of a few minutes, the observed light died out and the motorcycle started again.

Godelieve van Overmeire indicates that on October 17, 1954, in France, in St Cyr sur Mer, according to Figuet and J.L. Ruchon in "Ovni, premier dossier complet...", Alain Lefeuvre pub. 1979, p. 176, at 4 a.m., Casimir A. by motorcyle had his attention drawn by a powerful gleam coming from the boulevard of the beach. He suddenly stopped, the motorbike did not advance more. At the end of a few moments the gleam dies out and the motor-cycle starts again.

In Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer (Provence Riviera, France), several people see 1 object posed in a meadow. It appears phosphorescent and of big size. It flies away in a very sudden manner.
The sources are indicated as "Il Tempo, Il Messagero, 16 et 17 octobre 1954".

His attention is drawn by a powerful gleam coming from the boulevard of the beach. As he had to go through this boulevard, he is suddenly stopped at a certain distance, and its vehicle does not advance any more. At the end of a few moments, the mysterious light dies out and his motor-cycle can start again."
"One hour later, another witness, driving at this place by car, sees a circular craft emitting a purple gleam which rises in the airs leaving behind itself an orange trail."

SY-CYR-SUR-MER [sic] (VAR : FRANCE)
Andre Csimir [sic] was out hunting on his moped when he saw a powerful light in the Boulevard de la Plage. He tried to drive towards it, but his moped would not move forward. The glow went out and he could then go on. An hour later, a local councillor, Leon Baudouvin was driving in the area when he saw a circular object, emitting a purple light rise from the ground, leaving a trail of flames.

Possible meteor.
This is one of those cases where an "engine stop" or something of the sort is reported, but where in cannot be established that it would not have been an involuntary stop, unconsciously caused by a fright. A case summed up by a two sentences report in a newspaper obviously does not suffice to pronounce a well-assured explanation.
As there is no guarantee that the witnessed precisely checked their watches, the two sightings, at 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., may have been caused by the same meteor.
