London, July 1. -- A BOAC pilot, Captain James Howard, experienced in the Atlantic which he has crossed 265 times, stated on Wednesday, on arriving in New York, that for eighteen minutes, he had been accompanied, during his crossing, by strange flying machines.
The event occurred when his "Stratocruiser" was about 270 km (or about 170 miles) from the stopover at Goose-Bay, Newfoundland, at an altitude of 5700 meters (or about 18,500 feet). The bizarre procession, which was several kilometers away, was moving at the same speed as the "stratocruiser" and consisted of a large craft that seemed to continually change shape and six smaller objects.
The eleven crew members and 51 passengers of the craft also witnessed the event. The experts took up the case.
