Four Mexican aviators chased a flying saucer. But after a few feints, it took off at a dizzying speed and disappeared.
Mexico City, March 17. -- Saucers are indeed flying machines, probably remote-controlled and capable of dizzying horizontal and ascending speeds. Such are the assertions of four pilots and inspectors of the Mexican civil aeronautics, who succeeded, yesterday for the first time, in pursuing and "approaching" one of these machines at the moment it was seen in the vicinity of Mexico City.
The pilots were ready for takeoff yesterday, at nightfall, at the aerodrome of the Mexican capital. Their equipment included, in particular, photographic and telephoto cameras. As soon as one of the strange "objects" was reported in the skies over Mexico, they set out in pursuit.
The pilots stated that they had been able to observe, while they themselves were at an altitude of approximately 6,500 m, the presence of a saucer which, they estimated, was navigating at an altitude of approximately 10,000 m. The craft, according to them, with a diameter of about thirty meters, is made of opaque material and has a kind of exhaust pipe at its top from which sparks and flames come out.
The same pilots add that when the saucer had noticed the approach of their planes, it began to turn slowly in a concentric circle "as if it wanted to let itself be followed", then, suddenly, accelerated its speed of rotation by throwing flames and sparks and, finally, started abruptly at a dizzying speed to quickly get lost in the clouds.
The pilots who are professionals accustomed to seriousness do not seem doubtful, declared, on their return, that they did not think that the saucers were guided directly by human beings, given that no organism could support such a speed of acceleration. On the other hand, they also say they are certain that the devices "are operated from some place on earth, by people who are perfectly aware of the different phenomena of air navigation and in particular of the methods and means available to Mexican aviation."
Several foreign military attachés have asked the civil aeronautics directorate to be informed of the official report that the four Mexican aviators will make while, from all points of the country, the appearance of the mysterious saucers in the sky continues to be monitored.
In the skies of Bolivia
Two "flying saucers" appeared, Thursday, in the skies of Bolivia, one was seen from the capital around noon.
It headed and moved, leaving behind it a trail of smoke.
A second craft was reported in Cochabana, it was at an altitude of approximately 10000 m.
