BOISE, Ida., July 2 (U.P.) -- Add a lieutenant governor and a jusge to the growing list of persons who have been seeing strange celestial objects lately.
Idaho Lt. Gov. Donald S. Whitehead today revealed that last June 24 - the day Boise Businessman-Pilot Kenneth Arnold saw the "flying saucers" near Mt. Rainier in Washington - he and Justice of Peace J. M. Lampert observed a strange comet-like object hanging in the western sky.
"It had a brilliant head," said Whitehead, "and a filmy smoke for a tail. Had it been night it would have looked like a comet. We observed it for 20 minutes until it dropped below the buildings."
The observation was made in Lamprt's office in a Boise office building. Mrs. Lampert and his secretary also were present.
"At first we thought it was a skywriter," Lampert said, "but we quickly changed out minds. The object didn't moved [sic]. It seems that it went below the horizon merely by the rotation of the earth. The time was 3:30 p.m."
