After his observation, Claude used Google to find where to testify on the Internet and came across the "UFO paranormal" blog of Christian Mace.
He reported on June 21, 2008, at 09:45 p.m., that on June 21, 2008, at 09:45 p.m. - which is odd - on a walk, in Soufflenheimdans in the Bas-Rhin, while there was still enough sunlight to see, his girlfriend and him saw to their astonishment a kind of low flying craft, He estimates it was at about 1000 meters above the ground.
The craft turned "on itself slowly" and flew "in straight line at a slow speed without accelerating or changing direction."
He saw gray metal reflections on the machine thanks to the sun that was still present. The environment was very quiet, and the craft made absolutely no noise. He estimates its size as kile that of a "7.5t truck."
The craft headed toward Haguenau above the forest. Claude wanted to film it with my cell phone, but without satisfactory result: "I did not see it on the screen."
He ensures that his story is not a joke but that he really cannot say "if it was a UFO or some kind of known terrestrial flying object"; he indicates that the object "was not recognizable as a kind of balloon or an airplane or helicopter, especially without any noise."
The next day, he indicated via Christian Macé's blog a video, now unavailable, of another alleged UFO sighting, in the U.K.; which he said looks like what he saw himself.
His story was then copied by other UFO websites.

I am not joking what I tell is the truth, now to know if this was really a u.f.o. or a kind of known earthly object, i absolutely do not know.This object was not recognizable as a kind of balloon ballon or a plane or helicopter, especially without any noise.
I estimate this aobject was as large as a 7.5t truck .

I look a bit on your blog for ufo images/videos to remember the shape and i found the video of the ufo i saw.
To compare my indications on the blog to the video :
-same level of altitude
-same very slow trajectory speed
-speed of rotation on itself exactly similar.
-the shape was a kind of pyramid (in soufflenheim we saw it from below under a different angle )
-very dark color
-and in the video no noise coming from the craft

The object is said to have been located above the forest and going to Hagenau, the witnesses being in or near Soufflenheim, we can consider that the thing was in an area from the north to the east of witnesses.
What is described initially shows nothing really "alien" and as suggested by the witness himself, something perhaps from our planet.
What is silent, flies slowly, and can produce metallic-looking reflections?
An advertising balloon or a blimp.
The video by cell phone did not pay off: at this hour the lighting is not very good, and the distance was probably quite important; and then, details could not be seen, and a balloon could have remained unrecognizable as such to the witnesses.
Note that this happens on a June 21. It is a day of festivities throughout France: the music festival, and the day of the Summer. A day favorable to the presence of balloons in the sky.
In his second message to Christian Macé, Claude gives little additional text information (still no duration, no specific place, no angular size, etc.); he indicates a video on the Internet that he says shows a UFO similar to what he observed; Unfortunately at the time I write these lines in 2015, the video has disappeared.

Now, the blimp no longer seems a good explanation: it is reiterated that the thing rotates on itself, the shape appears to be neither round nor oval like a classic blimp or balloon (except for party balloon). The color which he first said had "gray metallic reflections" is now given as "very dark".
The speed of rotation on itself is not known; but this feature allows without too much risk to eliminates any type of Zeppelin airship and even advertising blimps. There remains the possibility of the small mylar party balloon.
On the other hand, one can also eventually find it strange that the filing of the story on the web is on the same day and the same hour than the date and hour of the alleged sighting...
