In 1969, ufologist Jacques Vallée indicated in his catalog of "landings" that on October 1, 1954, at 07:00 p.m. in Jussey in France, two young people "saw a luminous white disk moving in the sky. It dived to the ground and two men, described as being very tall and dressed in white, emerged from it and made gestures. The witnesses ran away in fear."
In 1974, ufologists Charles Garreau and Raymond Lavier evoked the same case, stating that the two young people were circulating near the village, that they saw a white and luminous disc appear in the sky; which circled and then landed in a pasture "at some distance", and that one of the witnesses said:
"We then saw two 'men', all dressed in white, come out. They did not say a single word, but, with a lot of gestures, they beckoned us to come to them. We became frightened and fled. A few seconds later, the craft took off and disappeared in the night."
None of these authors thought it would have been nice to give a reference of a contemporary source; it will not be done until 1997, when Jean Sider indicated that it was the newspaper Le Comtois, of Besançon, of October 5, 1954, on page 2.

The two authors indicate that on October 1, 1954 at 07:00 P.M. in Jussey in the Haute-Saône, two young people circulating close to the village saw a white and luminous disc appearing in the sky.
The disc whirled then landed in a grazing ground "at some distance."
The authors give this witnesses account:
"We then saw two "men," dressed all in white, come out of it. They did not utter one word. But, with great reinforcement of gestures, they beckoned to us to come to them. We became frightened and we cut loose. A few seconds later, the machine took off and disappeared in the night."
The authors say that their sources are newspaper clipings and personal file.

Jussy [sic], France. A hoax?
According to our source, at Jussy, France, a French farmer informed the local authorities a white-colored machine landed near him and a couple of "very tall" beings dressed in white-colored clothes came out of the craft and made gestures to him. The farmer said he ran away. 7.
Jacques Vallee learned that subsequent investigations determined that the report was a hoax. 8.
[Ref. jsr1:] JEAN SIDER:
Ufologist and author Jean Sider indicates that on October 1st, 1954, at 07:00 p.m. in Jussey, Haute-Saône, two anonymous young people were traveling near the village - one does not say how - when they suddenly noticed in the sky a kind of disc of white color that sum and then dove to the ground to land in a field. Two tall beings dressed in white came out, made gestures towards the witnesses as if they invited them to approach, but these were frightened and preferred to flee.
Jean Sider indicates that the local source is "Le Comtois, Besançon, October 5, 1954, p. 2."
He notes that Figuet on page 104, cites the case but does not mention the interpretation of the gestures.

JUSSEY (HAUTE-SANOE : FRANCE)
Two young men saw a luminous white disk moving in the sky. It descended to the ground and two very tall men dressed in white emerged from it and made gestures. The witnesses ran away.
As can be seen above in [lgs1], Loren Gross wrote that in the Flying Saucer Review, Volume 10, No. 3. of May / June 1964, there had been a letter from Jacques Vallée informing that the case was a hoax ("Jacques Vallée learned that subsequent investigations determined that the report was a hoax.")
I was ready to believe it, but when in 2019, I was able to read this issue of the FSR, though I did find an article by Jacques Vallée, including some cases of 1954 that he discarded for this or that reason, he did not write a word about the case of Jussey or "Jussy". I consulted the next issue of the FSR, there was nothing either. Loren Gross must have been confused...
Which obviously does not prove that the case cannot be a hoax; or a helicopter.
The case, obviously never investigated, seems to me too badly documented to draw firmer conclusions.
