Summary:

Marc Thirouin, one of the first French ufologists and the first to carry out field investigations, had investigated the claims of close encounter of the third kinf by Marius Dewilde in Quarouble on September 10, 1954. On this occasion, he had other testimonies that would concede the words of Marius Dewilde.

He mentioned one of these other testimonies in the ufology magazine Ouranos #25 of the first quarter of 1960.

Marc Thirouin indicated that this other witness was a well-known businessman from nearby Quarouble, a great friend of one of his local correspondents. Marc Thirouin was able to collect his testimony, which follows, under the promise to completely preserve his anonymity:

"Two or three days after the first observation of Marius Dewilde, towards the end of the afternoon, it was still daylight, I passed in van on a road in the vicinity when I saw a disc with a cupola which descended vertically into a small thicket located at about fifty meters of the road, to land there horizontally. I clearly distinguished a kind of gallery around the cupola where beings of human appearance stood. I stopped my car, went out of it and run towards the machine. Arrived in its vicinity, I was paralyzed, while a green ray was emitted by the apparatus. The disc immediately went up vertically, then moved away, rather gently, and my paralysis ceased. A gush of air shook me at the time of the departure."

This French ufologist reported on this case when he published his investigation report in 1960 on the Marius Dewilde case.

Marc Thirouin indicates that the witness is a very well known tradesman from the near surroundings of Quarouble, a good friend of one of Thirouin's local correspondent, whose testimony was noted by Marc Thirouin under the promise to totally respect his anonymity:

Ten appearances of UFO in the French sky in 1954

[... Other cases ...]

10 - Quarouble (Nord)

On September 12, 1954, a tradesman circulating in a van sees a "disc with cupola which approaches vertically and lands behind a clump of trees at 50 meters of the road". The object is inhabited, the tradesman claims to have distinctly seen human beings through a kind of gallery which surrounds the apparatus. He then reportedly approached the UFO which would have sent to him a good blow of paralysing ray in the teeth... The same day, at a few hundreds of meters of this hypothetical landing, two cows are found dead in a grazing ground. Eminently suspect death: "At the autopsy it appeared that they were entirely emptied of their blood without any trace of visible wound on the body."

Explanations:

Map.

The case may just as well be dated September 13 insetad of September 12.

It is obvious that if the story was true, it would constitute a confirmation of the statements of Marius Dewilde. But this is far from being established.

The case was collected by Marc Thirouin long after the story, immediately give, of Marius Dewilde.
