A new development:

the filament saucer

Paris, 27. -- Every day brings a new report to add to the "flying saucers" file.

Yesterday, the appearance of iridescent saucers and formations of "flying cigars" was reported. Today, a postal worker from Bourges announces something even more remarkable and mysterious.

This postal worker, Mr. Robert Patient, 35 years old, living in Bourges, was driving to Vasselay with his wife and their children, aged 11 and 10. The night was pitch-black. As he passed near the hamlet of Jou, north of Bourges, he saw in the sky a strange object of extreme brightness, apparently descending into a field.

At the presumed landing point, a reddish glow appeared. An incandescent filament about fifty meters long was at the center of the hemispherical object, whose diameter was approximately fifteen meters.

For twenty to thirty seconds, there was darkness. Suddenly, a new glow appeared above the horizon.

Mr. Patient, who had stopped his car, started driving again, followed for several hundred meters by the object, which then disappeared.

Other witnesses from Bourges, St-Dolchard, and Vierzon claim to have seen a luminous object at the same approximate time.
