The article below was published in the daily newspaper La Voix du Nord, local issue of Cambrai, France, page 5, on October 20, 1954.
Now the inhabitants of Iwuy are also joining the large family of those who claim to have seen the famous saucer: in the night from Sunday to Monday, workers on duty at the sugar refinery distinguished the object moving at very high speed; the previous Saturday evening, a lady living in rue Foch, also saw one, around 9:30 p.m.
Also, good people of the rue du 4-Septembre, were returning peacefully from the cinema, around 7:45 p.m. Sunday, when they saw, in the distance, on the path which leads to the bridge of the mill and leads to the cemetery, a beam of light which swept the road. The craft, for sure it was one, advanced slowly in this deserted place and it moved irregularly, due surely by a mechanism of high precision; it moved towards the cemetery where it seemed to be playing hide and seek among the graves...
Some good people spoke of going to see, but suddenly, the mysterious object took the same path and, for a long time, it was seen shining in the dark night. Tongues were working: saucer, ghost or will-o'-the-wisp?
We learned some time after the origin of her suspicious appearances: one of our fellow citizens, strong lamp in hand, retraced the path she had traveled in the afternoon in the opposite direction and was looking for a shoe that her baby had lost along the way!
This "saucer" of a new kind, frankly braved the darkness, without suspecting that worried eyes followed its evolutions: after that, beware of the saucers!
