The article below was published in the daily newspaper La Voix du Nord, Béthune issue, France, page 6, October 20, 1954.
In Bethune, we began to despair: everywhere one sees, flying in the sky saucers or cigars, or something resembling a saucer or a cigar. We haven't seen anything like this until now. It was a bit annoying!
Let's no longer be mortified. A gap has just been filled, we now have our saucer. Like everyone else.
We are no longer late people, but up to date people!
Our saucer appeared in the Bethune sky on Monday evening around 9 p.m. Very few saw it.
In truth, we only know of two people who have indulged in this luxury: Mr. Louis Decourcelle, 53, transporter in Vendin and Mr. Jules Venarien, 35, from Beuvry.
Both are formal and in good faith. They saw a red disc in the sky. The disc then lengthened while spitting sparks then it disappeared above the Marshes of Annezin. The whole thing lasted only a few seconds, ten at most.
Hopefully next time we will also see the Martians with the saucer...
