The Earth keeps turning...

A MYSTERIOUS METEORITE

ALBUQUERQUE (New Mexico). -- Experts at the University of Albuquerque spent days studying a mass of black, porous material with a Geiger counter and a microscope. It had been sent to them by a schoolteacher lady from Georgia, who reported that the "thing" had fallen near her house. Was it a piece of a "flying saucer"? or of one of those mysterious "balls of fire"? The experts couldn't say. Deeply puzzled, Dr. Lincoln La Paz, director of the university's Institute of Meteoritics, finally decided to show the specimen to his wife. She smelled it and declared it was a piece of burnt toast.
