SAIGON. -- Several witnesses claim to have seen a flying saucer over Saigon. The "Journal de l'Extrême-Orient" cites two Frenchmen "enjoying a well-established reputation for common sense and level-headedness" who reportedly saw, on May 28, for several seconds, a round, shiny object moving in a straight line at very high speed, without leaving any trail behind it. The object appeared at the moment a ceremony was taking place in the port of Saigon to mark the arrival in Indochina of the 150th cargo ship carrying American war materials. The newspaper states that it delayed publication of the news in order to conduct an investigation. According to checks made with the Air Force, no aircraft or weather balloon matching the description of the object had taken to the air that day.
