UFOs in the daily Press:

Flying saucer or meteor, France, 1951:

The article below was published in the daily newspaper La Bourgogne Républicaine, Dijon, France, on January 10, 1951.

A strange luminous phenomenon in the sky of the Jura

Monday morning, around 7:10, the travelers were waiting for the bus from Dole, at the Mantry station. They witnessed an extraordinary phenomenon. Suddenly, the sky lit up with a large white streak, as bright as the magnesium flame, for 10 seconds. Everything was lit up as if it were broad daylight. Then the glow, oriented northeast southwest and moving north, disappeared and everything was plunged back into darkness. One of the travelers questioned the bus driver who replied that he thought it was a problem with his lighting and then realized that it was not. A farmer from Mauffans who came out of his farm at the same time stated that the glow lit up the road more than the headlights of a car arriving at the precise moment it occurred. Meteor or flying saucer? That is the question!
