The regional newspaper Le Bien Public for October 7, 1954, reported in its local news section for Nuits-Saint-Georges that a craft of the "flying saucer" family had reportedly flown over the town's sky, seen by several people, both children and adults.
They "claimed" to have very clearly seen "on Tuesday evening," therefore on October 5, 1954, around 07:30 p.m., a luminous disc of orange color moving silently and at high speed in a south-to-north direction.
The newspaper said it knew no more about it.

At a time when flying saucers are occupying the minds of both the young and the old, and when several columns are devoted to them every day in all newspapers, it is said that a craft of this kind may have flown over the skies of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Several people, and not only children, claim to have very clearly seen on Tuesday evening, around 7:30 p.m., a luminous disc of orange color moving silently and at high speed in a south-to-north direction. How much credence should be given to this rumor? Is it the work of some pranksters? That seems unlikely. But we know no more than that.
