Summary:

In the local newspaper Les Nouvelles de Redon for October 6, 1954, it was reported among other observations that several residents of Trégon, "whose good faith cannot be doubted," stated that on October 2, 1954, at about 09:30 p.m., they saw in the northwestern part of the sky a luminous object of yellow-red color, shaped like an old dirigible balloon, remaining motionless in the sky and appearing to be 3 to 4 meters long. After several minutes the object rose silently and quickly disappeared toward the north.

In his 1958 book "Mystérieux Objets Célestes", Aimé Michel indicated without giving a source that on October 4, 1954, around 8:30 p.m. in Trégon in Brittany, a luminous object came to rest on the top of a hill; several people got into a car or cars to take a closer look but the object moved away as they approached.

In his catalog of "landings", in 1969, Jacques Vallée reports the same thing, associated with another case, which means that his indication of a press source Le Parisien for October 7, 1954, is not very sure.

This will be repeated later by others, without further information.

A farmer spots a mysterious craft in his yard

Several residents of Trégon, whose good faith cannot be questioned, state that on Saturday evening, around 9:30 p.m., in the northwestern part of the sky, they saw a luminous object, yellow-red in color, shaped like an old dirigible balloon, hovering motionless in the sky and appearing to be 3 to 4 meters in length. After several minutes, the craft rose silently and quickly disappeared toward the north.

Another sighting occurred Saturday evening in Megrit, near Jugon, around 11:30 p.m. Only a young 23-year-old farmer, Mr. Henri Le Hérissé, witnessed it. As he was leaving his home to check on his horses in the stable, he suddenly saw in front of him, in the southwest direction, between his shed at the back of the yard and a haystack, a luminous, oval-shaped craft, about 2 meters at its largest dimension. The object hovered motionless at approximately 50 meters in height. After observing it for about two minutes, Mr. Le Hérissé clearly distinguished a dark, human-like shape inside, which appeared to be about 80 centimeters tall.

Returning to his bedridden wife, he told her what he had just seen and said he was going to alert his neighbor, Mr. Le Texier. Before calling him, the farmer cast another glance toward the saucer... for without a doubt, it was indeed a saucer. It had descended and was now only 4 meters above the ground.

On board, the farmer this time clearly saw two human-like figures standing motionless. Frightened, he ran back into the farmhouse where he quickly barricaded himself, turning off all the lights. Remaining under the influence of fear for a long time, he did not dare return to the yard to observe the saucer again and therefore did not know what became of it.

Another craft above the Guildo

Last Saturday, around 8:15 p.m., as usual, Mr. Jean Bonnenfant, 70, retired, living at Le Tertre Jannoux, went out into the small garden to close the doors. Back on the porch, lingering briefly, his daughter asked him whether he was waiting for a "flying saucer." She had barely finished speaking when Mr. Bonnenfant and his family members saw, in the southwest direction, first a faint white light giving the impression of being very far away, then growing larger into an "oval" shape and taking on a red-blue hue like a flame. The phenomenon lasted a good minute. Mr. Jean Bonnenfant, a former signalman, witnessed many fires during his career but states he had never seen anything similar. It was most likely a "cigar or flying saucer."

A worker from Saint-Brieuc sees a strange glow in the sky

Returning home Monday evening from work, Mr. Ernest Dequercadec, 23, a garage worker in St. Brieuc living in the town of Trégueux, suddenly saw in the sky, while near the place called "l'Ourme," a strange glow approaching him. Frightened, he turned around and entered a café where several patrons, after hearing his account, went outside and in turn saw the glow fairly high in the sky for about an hour and a half.

Mr. Dequercadec was so frightened that he had to be escorted home and remained in bed for part of Tuesday.

The day before already, in the Villages district, several trustworthy individuals had seen a glow stretching out in the shape of a cigar.

The Belgian ufologist indicates in her catalogue that in 1954, on October 4, in France in "Tregon", "Several people saw towards 20:30 an object which seemed to hover above a hill. It was described like a flat metallic object, emitting light."

Evaluation - Probably astronomical

Explanations:

Insufficient information.

It might have been an astronomical misinterpretation. On October 4, 1954, around 8:30 p.m. from Trégon, Mars was at azimuth 188°, elevation 15°, setting at 11:45 p.m. The Moon was on the right of Mars at 202°, elevation 12°6', it set at 10:49 p.m., it was in its last quarter with 46.0% of its surface illuminated. A notable star was Capella (28°, elevation 12°), Venus set at 7:42 p.m.

However, there is mention of a period of immobility followed by a departure, with a departure direction rather than a fading in place. The phenomenon therefore remains unidentified for me.
