A NEW FEATURE
SEARCH FOR THE "FLY BY NIGHT."
According to the "Daily Express," a new feature of the mysterious airship which is reported to have been seen flying over the eastern counties in the night time is reported. A brother in law of Mr. Herbert Neaverson, a prominent Petersborough tradesman, saw the airship near his home at Peakirk in the early hours of the morning. He heard a swishing sound overhead and the throbbing of a motor. He added:-- "When I looked up I saw a peculiar light coming from the direction of the sea. It was too dark to discern the shape of the airship." He was so impressed by what he had seen that he travelled to London and informed the War Office.
SEEN AT CLACTON AND SOUTHEND.
In addition the mysterious aerocraft is reported to have been seen at Clacton and Southend. Mr. Eggerton Free, of Kingscliff, Great Clacton, states that he saw it ten days ago in the dusk. He says, "I was attracted by an oblong machine hovering quite near my home. It seemed to remains stationary for a few minutes only, then disappeared towards Frinton."
Miss H. M. Boville, of Southend-on-Sea, writes that she observed it at about 11.20 p.m. on Sunday. She describes it as a large, black object, oblong in shape. It was almost motionless at the time, but after a minute or two it suddenly rose higher and began to travel very swiftly in the direction of London, showing for a second or two a couple of very brilliant lights.
A search for the airship's home is being undertaken by motorists and others in all parts of East Anglia.
