STILL THE FLYING SAUCERS

PARIS. -- Flying saucers continue to appear everywhere.

A veterinarian in Seine-Inférieure, three firefighters in Vienne, and two airport employees at Orly all saw various flying saucers during the night of Saturday to Sunday. The veterinarian also reported seeing "a strange figure about 1.20 meters tall."

DIEPPE. -- At dusk, while driving through the town of Baillolet on National Route 314, Mr. Henri Robert, a veterinarian in Londinières, saw four craft flying one above the other at around 300 meters altitude.

Mr. Robert claims that one of them zigzagged in front of his car, that he felt a strong electric shock, and that his car's engine stopped. He then saw on the road a strange figure about 1.20 meters tall. His headlights went out. When they came back on, a cylindrical object about three meters long lifted off from the embankment and headed north.

Mr. Robert recounted his adventure to the gendarmes in Londinières.

CHATELLERAULT. -- On Saturday evening, around 8:30 p.m., three firefighters, Captain Huguet, Lieutenant Doussineau, and Warrant Officer Serreau, saw a large disc rise into the sky toward the Château de Targe. The disc emitted sparks and was followed by a very long luminous trail. They stopped their car. The disc, they said, passed over them and they heard a whistling sound.

PARIS. -- Two employees of Orly Airport, Mr. Raymond Castelle and Mr. Charles Birest, told air police that they had seen, during the night of Saturday to Sunday around 9:30 p.m., a flying saucer cross the Orly sky from east to west "at the speed of a jet plane." Upon reaching the town of Paray-Vieille-Poste — on the edge of the east-west runway — the mysterious craft, which was said to be flying at an altitude of 300 meters, stopped for a few moments and emitted beams of light that were intensely reflected on the ground.

A "FLYING MELON" OVER ALSACE

STRASBOURG. -- After cigars, brooms, and barrels, now it's "melons" appearing, this time in the skies of Alsace. Indeed, several people, including some pilots from the Strasbourg flying club, claimed to have seen on Saturday evening a shiny craft shaped like a melon, leaving a two-meter trail of white-orange color, flying over the Bas-Rhin region.

This craft was reportedly seen around the same time in Strasbourg, in Haguenau, and in Wissembourg.

The "melon saucer" was flying at high altitude and was heading either southeast, according to some, or east to west, according to others.

A similar phenomenon was observed in Niederhaslach (Bruche Valley).

THE ROAD WORKER SAW A FLYING SAUCER

DIJON. -- Ten days ago, Mr. André Narcy, 47, a road worker in Mertrud, arrived at work out of breath: "I saw a flying saucer," he claimed, giving plenty of details — an orange-colored craft stopped in a field, a little being wearing a fur-trimmed cloak, and a beautiful vertical takeoff by the mysterious device. In fact, Mr. Narcy was able to show the location. With two of his coworkers, Mr. Riel and Mr. Henry, he returned to the spot. All three declared that the dew had dried in a specific area, the grass had taken on a "slightly milky tint," and that "round feet" prints were visible, etc.

In short, when questioned again by the gendarmes, Mr. Narcy has just admitted that he fabricated the entire story to excuse his late arrival at work.
