The article below was published in the daily newspaper La Croix, France, on October 19, 1949.
A luminous ball, followed by a trail of gray smoke, similar to that seen Monday morning in Brioude, was very clearly distinguished in the vicinity of Aurillac, in particular in Arpajon-sur-Céré, at Plomb du Cantal, at Rouget and Pierrefort. The phenomenon appeared in the form of a bright and rapid luminous trail, going from East to West, ending in a kind of vibrating spindle, through which the colors of the rainbow were distinguished.
A few minutes later, numerous explosions were heard.
