A cigar surrounded by 12 cigarillos in the sky over Rixheim (HAUT-RHIN)

MULHOUSE, October 1 (A.F.P.).

Two people reported seeing a luminous object in the sky the other night in Rixheim.

Using binoculars, they observed that it was shaped like a long cigar. A dozen small satellite cigars surrounded it. A railway worker, on night duty, reported seeing the same phenomenon.

10 flying saucers dance a ballet in the sky over Ardèche

GRENOBLE, October 1 (dispatch "France-soir"). -- Mr. Joseph Habrat, a farmer near Tournon (Ardèche), in Lemps, in the Perrets district, saw last night a green light in the sky, brighter than a star, in the direction of Valence. Intrigued, Mr. Habrat watched this light, and his astonishment reached its peak when he saw the luminous object move very rapidly in various directions, then suddenly stop.

Mr. Habrat called his daughter, "who had always refused to believe in flying saucers." The young woman, Yvette, also saw, like her father, a kind of luminous curtain which, it seemed to them, came as close as about 500 meters, accompanied by a slight humming sound. Then this beam of light changed direction.

Around 11 p.m., about ten luminous objects gathered and performed a real ballet before disappearing to the east. Shortly after, three objects reappeared again before vanishing in turn.

"Saucers" almost everywhere

BESSEGES, October 1 (A.F.P.). -- Two residents of the commune of Foussignargues, near Bessèges, reported seeing in a field near their home, on the night from Sunday to Monday, a bright red luminous object surrounded by vertical rods.

PAU, October 1 (A.F.P.). -- Numerous people saw yesterday around noon, at very high altitude in the sky, a mysterious object shaped like a long, shiny balloon. The object came from the south and was heading northwest.

NEVERS, October 1 (A.F.P.). -- Mr. Raymond Deloire, 20 years old, a farm worker in Lamgeron (Nièvre), who was riding his bicycle the other night on the road to Saint-Pierre-de-Moutiers, saw in the sky a mysterious object with a semi-spherical shape, emitting a bright orange light from the front. Flames were shooting from the rear. The object moved silently at high speed toward the northeast.

BREST, October 1 (dispatch "France-soir"). -- Mr. Arsène Stéphan, second-in-command of the cargo ship "Merdrignac" of the Worms company, drafted the following statement today in Brest:

"My ship, which was traveling from Requijada to Antwerp, was in the Bay of Biscay during the night of September 23 to 24. Around 9 p.m., when our position was 44° 48' north and 4° 17' west, I saw in the southwest, about 5° above the horizon, a sort of red star, four times bigger than the others. My sailors Priol and Panier also observed it. I then used binoculars and noticed it looked like a disc and, on the red, there appeared a green reflection. We followed this luminous point throughout our watch and can affirm that, at 11:45 p.m., when a cloud hid it, it had risen to 30° above the horizon.

"I wish to report this extraordinary appearance because, to our knowledge, no star rises in the southwest."
