Torino UFO in the French Press, 1973:

The article below was published in the daily newspaper France Soir, France, on December 2, 1973.

TURIN (A.F.P.). -- The detection of the mysterious craft, reports the Italia agency, occurred above the airport of Turin-Caselle.

The pilot of a private plane, Mr. Ricardo Marano, was about to land when the control tower warned him that there was an unidentified object immobilized 400 meters above the ground. The radar indicated a trace of intensity comparable to that of a "DC-8" type craft, Mr. Marano then approached the object which he described as a luminous globe emitting a dazzling glow, ranging from purple to blue passing through red-garnet tones. 900 km/h.

The commander of the military airport, Colonel Rustichelli, confirmed the phenomenon and gave the same description of the U.F.O.

The "luminous globe" was also seen by the crew and passengers of an "Alitalia" plane which had just taken off for Rome. Those aboard the airplane noticed the U.F.O. as it flew towards Genoa, and the pilot followed it for some time, over the Ligurian coast. The U.F.O. suddenly rose vertically at breakneck speed and disappeared.

U.F.O.s have recently multiplied their "appearances" in Italy, particularly in Tuscany, Abruzzo and Bergamasque. A Tuscan photographer even recently fixed on film a kind of oblong light spot surrounded by a kind of ring.
