A U. S. NIGHT FIGHTER BASE, France, Jan. 2 (AP) -- The Nazis have thrown a mysterious light, called "Foo-fighter" by U. S. pilots, into the night skies over Germany.
Pilots say balls of fire race alongside wings of American Beaufighters flying intruder missions over the Reich. They appear suddenly and accompany the planes for miles. Official intelligence says they appear to be radio-controlled.
Lt. Wallace Gould of Silver Creek, N. Y., one of the fighter pilots reporting the recent developments, said the lights followed his wing tips for a while and then, in a few seconds, zoomed out of sight.
