VASSELAY

Another "saucer" in the sky over Vasselay

It seems flying saucers have a particular fondness for Vasselay - and especially for the hamlet of Fontland, where, for the second time in just a few weeks, a saucer has been sighted. Curiously enough, it was Mr. Patient Robert's nephew, Jean-Guy Chagnaud, who once again had the luck to witness the mysterious object. Although only 13 and a half years old, the boy was not dreaming, and his account appears to be well-founded.

It was around 7:30 p.m. Jean-Guy was returning by bicycle from the hamlet of Fontland, where he went every evening at the same time to collect milk, when he saw, a few hundred meters ahead, a ball of fire about 60 centimeters in diameter above the farm of Mr. Camille Lanoue. This luminous mass moved slowly, advancing in his direction. Frightened, the boy pedaled faster. The fireball grew in size, followed the road - which it lit up intensely - and positioned itself vertically just a few meters above him.

Its light was intense, a beautiful red-orange color. The mysterious craft, once round, had become slightly oval. It was very large (7 to 8 meters long) and moved without making a sound. Jean-Guy Chagnaud stopped; the saucer hovered motionless. When he resumed riding, the craft followed him once again.

As he reached the road from Saint-Eloy to Vasselay, Jean-Guy made a right-angle turn. The saucer, caught off guard by the unexpected maneuver, continued straight ahead and disappeared - only to reappear 250 meters further along, in front of him, just a few meters away. The light was dazzling; the craft was enormous. It left behind a thick trail of smoke about ten meters long.

When the boy arrived at La Jonchère, the saucer, still silent, slowly rose and disappeared for good - but not without first brilliantly illuminating the entire façade of the local constable's house, as if to officially announce its visit to the people of Vasselay.
