Lisbon, September 27. -- "A very large concentration of extraordinarily bright light" was seen in the middle of the Atlantic, off the Azores, at 37 degrees West longitude and 38 degrees North latitude, by Captain Freeman of "Pan American Airways," who was piloting a plane on the New York – South Africa route.
The captain specified that this light could not be mistaken, either by its brilliance or by the vast area it covered, for light projected by a ship.
