Official, France:

In France, there is still no equivalent of the Freedom of Information Acts (FOIA) as it is now applied to some official UFO information in the majority of other countries, USA, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy etc. In France, and only in theory, information is supposedly possibly accessible 60 years after its date. (Thus 2014 for UFO cases of 1954 etc). It is only if you are "Somebody of Importance" such as TV journalist Jean-Claude Bourret in the 70's, or if you have "Friends Inside", or if you beg enough, that you can maybe pick up some documents.

July 23, 1955, a mysterious object in Agenvillers:

July 26, 1955

Gendarmerie Nationale, July 26, 1955 at 12:30.

Brigade of Nouvion-en-Ponthieu in the Somme.

At 11:45, at the office of our brigade, we are advised telephonically by Mr. the mayor of Agenvilliers (Somme), that one of his villager had seen a mysterious machine in the sky during the day of July 23, 1955. We immediately went to Agenvilliers where we heard Mr. P[-] Joseph, aged thorty-five, gardener of French nationality, who stated to us:

Saturday, July 23, 1955, at 10:10, I was busy digging in a field located at the locality the Ursulines, my attention was caught by the noise of a plane. I automatically looked up to see the apparatus moving, it came from the direction of the north and moved towards the south, when on the right of the plane, at approximately the same altitude, I distinguished a craft of cylindrical form, whirling in space. The latter was of aluminum color. I followed this machine with my eyes during approximately thirty seconds, to see it disappearing very quickly. At the time I was very surprised to see this machine whirling above my head and I wondered of what it could have been. Initially I believed that the plane had released something but when I saw it leaving at full speed, I understood that it could only be a flying saucer.

I affirm that what I state is the plain truth and not to have been victim of a hallucination. I add that close to me at this time there, were two girls of Gapennes, Misses L[-] Denise and Janine, who had not seen anything, because, having been so surprised, I did not have the reflex to alert them.

Having read, I persist and sign.
