In a 1987 book about "alien abductions", US folklorist Thomas E. Bullard reportedly indicated that in Terre Haute, Indiana, in 1978, at night, a husband and his wife were at home when someone looked in the window.
At this point they experienced a time lapse.
Under hypnosis, the husband recalled that he had gone with some beings to help repair the engine of their craft. The beings were humanoid with horse-like heads and robot-like body.
The wife remembered looking at a console that showed her images of a far away world, and reportedly suffered permanent eye damage.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:
Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Terre Haute, Indiana, in 1978, at night, a husband and wife were at home when someone looked in the window. At this point they experienced a time lapse. Under hypnosis the husband recalled that he had gone with some beings to help repair the engine of their craft. The beings were humanoid with horse like heads and robot like body. The wife remembered looking at a console that showed her images of a far away world. The wife reportedly suffered permanent eye damage.
Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "Thomas E Bullard, UFO Abductions The Measure of A Mystery."
We have here a typical illustration of the misdeeds of the use of hypnosis in ufology.
The conscious testimony is indeed summarized briefly and of no strangeness: somebody looked in through a window. This somebody is not described at all, whereas it was of foremost importance to report whether it was neighbor, the mailman, it was important to tell whether it was an "alien", when nothing makes it reasonable to assume that from the report.
A "missing time" on which nothing is said either remains the only strangeness of the conscious report. Was it a vague impression, or something firmly established? On which basis?
Then we get some results from the use of hypnosis, and unsurprisingly, what the man and the woman tell is not the same. The man helps repair the "engine of their craft" - it is certainly a little surprising that the good man was able to help repair the "engine" of an extraterrestrial spaceship - and the aliens he described had "horse-like heads" and "robot-like bodies", which should urge some reserves all the same also: who can seriously believe that visitors from another planet can really be robots with horses heads?
As for his wife, her account under hypnosis is curiously deprived of any information about those aliens, so we cannot know that she saw the same aliens or no aliens or entirely different aliens. We cannot know either what the "far away world" would look like.
The whole is anonymous, without precise date, no date of report, without any of the basic information that a true investigation should provide, no indication on the qualifications or lack of qualification of the people who used hypnosis on the witnesses.
These "hypnosis sessions" are really nothing like some sort of "truth serum" that would "reveal" any "real" experience; any dream or memory of science-fiction reading can become the basis for the so-called "recovered memories". It is thus not surprising that absurd stories, or stories that do not confirm each other, "surface" in such sessions. The serious ufologists understood that, others still deny it, without any justification.
