DECEMBER 28, ARROYITO, CORDOBA, ARGENTINA, ORLANDO CARRIZO, SEVERIANO BRUNETTO, DANIEL OMAR BRUNETTO:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

National Enquirer reporter and ufologist Bob Pratt listed that on December 28, 1978, at 04:30 a.m. in Arroyito, Cordoba, Argentina, three workers of the electrical company of Cordoba, Orlando Carrizo, 40, Severiano Brunetto, 53, and the latter's son, Daniel Omar, 20, were driving in a company truck near Arroyito and were about to cross a bridge over the Rio Segundo when they suddenly found themselves in the town of Transito, 15 kilometers farther on. They were amazed and didn't understand how they had gotten there. The cigarettes they had been smoking were still burning.

They discussed what had happened as they continued on their way, but shortly after, as they approached the locality of Santiago Temple, they saw a very intense light coming from a nearby hill, 150 meters from the road. It was coming from a flattened rhomboid-shaped object about 25 meters across which revolved on a vertical axis while emitting intense rays of light from the upper part. At times it oscillated as if it were a top on a wave.

The men said another truck had stopped and as they watched, the object suddenly focused a strong beam of light on their truck before moving away. An article in a ufology magazine apparently adds that at some point, one of the witnesses apparently signaled occupants, but they are not described.

Three men are "tele-transported" by Cordoba UFO

Cordoba
THREE employees of the Provincial Power Board said they had sighted an unidentified flying object hovering a a short distance from the ground and were "teletransported" over a 15-kilometre stretch of road.

One man even exchanged signals with the occupants of the object, according to a report in the local newspaper "Cordoba." The protagonists of the occurence are Orlando Carrizo, 40, Severiano Brunetto, 53, and his 20-year-old son Daniel Omar. All three are employees of the power company.

They told reporters they had been travelling in a company truck, and were on their way to San Francisco. At about 4.30am, near Arroyito, they prepared to cross a bridge but never did so. Suddenly they were in the middle of the road. 15 kilometres away in the district of Transito. None of them recollected crossing the bridge or continuing along the road. Even the cigarettes they held in their fingers were the same size as when they approached the bridge.

HERALD, Buenos Aires, Argentina - Dec. 29, 1978 - CR: J. Thomas

[Ref. pd1:] PIERRE DELVAL:

The author indicates that at the end of December 1978, three employees of a company of Cordoba, 800 km in the west of Buenos-Aires, being on board their car, stated to have been transported with their vehicle by a UFO on a distance of 15 km, and then abandoned on a deserted road.

[Ref. rh1:] RICHARD HALL:

The ufologist says that on December 27, 1978, approximately, near Arroyito, Cordoba, Argentina, there was a case with vehicle encounter, amnesia, translocation.

He says Orlando Carrizo, 40, Severiano Brunetto, 53, and the latter's son Daniel Omar, 20, all employees of the power company, were travelling to San Francisco in a company truck about 4:30 a.m., when they saw a UFO hovering a short distance from the ground, and as they prepared to cross a bridge near Arroyito, they suddenly found themselves 15 km away in the district of Transito in the middle of the road.

None of them recalled crossing the bridge or continuing along the road. The cigarettes they had been holding as they approached the bridge were still the same size. The news report, without elaborating, states that "One man even exchanged signals with the occupants of the object."

Richard Hall says it is "suggestive of a possible abduction."

He says the sources are the Buenos Aires Herald for December 29, 1978, and the original report in Cordoba, the local newspaper.

[Ref. dc1:] DWIGHT CONNELLY:

In another Argentine case, this one on July 16, 1972, Mssrs. Brunelli and Prochietto were reportedly traveling from Arroyito to Cordoba, but could not remember traveling a 50-mile section of the highway, and the trip was reduced by nearly 40 minutes, again suggesting teleportation, but no missing time.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that near Arroyito, Argentina, on late December 1978, at 04:30 a.m., three men, employees of a power company, were driving a company truck toward a bridge when they suddenly found themselves 15 km. Away, with their cigarettes the same length as when they neared the bridge. At some point, the men spotted a domed UFO and one of them apparently signaled the occupants, not described, of the craft.

Albert Rosales indicates that there is no other information, and that the source is the Mufon UFO Journal # 133.

The website says that on 27 December 1978 at 04:30 in Arroyito, Argentina, "Employees of power company driving in company truck sight UFO hovering short distance away. As they started to cross bridge they suddenly found themselves 15 km away. Inside occupants, signals."

And: "An abduction of a witness was reported. Witness reported that a period of time could not be accounted for. One object was observed by three male witnesses, typical age 40, on a bridge for over 15 minutes (Carrizo)."

Points to consider:

The fact that the origin of the story is not clear, the fact that I do not have an investigation report available nor the indication that there was an investigation, does not allow me to issue any founded evaluation to the story. The presence of occupants, which would make this case a close encounter of the third kind, is not quite certain either.
