This alleged incident occurred in Las Salinas, on the old pronvincial road 305 near San Miguel de tucuman, Tucuman Province, Argentina, on September 10, 1978, at approximately 04:40 p.m. It was reported in the national newspaper Cronica, of Buenos Aires, on September 12, 1978, and investigated by ufologist Jorge Eduardo Catoja who said he went to the site and talked to the witnesses. His report or summary of report soon appeared in ufology bulletins. The following summary comes from this report, with additional information from the Cronica newspaper.
Catoja said the first witness was Miguel Angel Carbajal, almost 16 years old, born October 20, 1962. He was a single Argentinian teenager who completed primary studies and was 1 year in the secondary school. He only read the daily newspaper La Gaceta. He worked at the store of his father Manuel V. Carbajal.
The second witness was Miguel Ledesma, 23 years old, single, Argentinian, illiterate, also employed at the store.
A third person was with them, a disabled person of the Carbajal family; whom Carbajal could not interview.
Miguel Angel Carbajal and these two others were alone in the dining room, as Miguel's parents were away in San Miguel de Tucuman where they visited relatives.
They were watching the television movie "Sport in the blood" in which Ben Johnson starred, when the image started to shrink, and they turned off the television set.
Catoja quotes Carbajal: "We turned on the record player and the disc we pu started to turn as if it were in 16 rmp. We thought that there was an electric voltage fall." "We chose a portable radio set, to listen to the fussball game; but there was an interference."
In the version of his report published in the "British Flying Saucer Review", it is said that they finally tried to use a portable transistor radio to listen to a local game of football, but also gave up, owing to interference. they thought this all was caused by a drop of power voltage, which appears quite sensible to me, though we should have been told wether the protable radio operated on batteries or not.
Then they heard a noise in the store. They immediately took the disabled person out of the house, thinking that robbers had penetrated in the store, and entered the store by a door connecting it to the dining room where they had been.
Once in the shop, they noticed pieces of glass of a wine bottle on the ground, and mayonnaise pots in the same state.
Catoja quotes Carbajal: "My attention was caught by a balance that had fallen on the ground, the pane broken, but it did not show any bumps. The electronic calculator was far from its usual position."
Then they saw in amazement and fear, at 6 meters of them two figures of generally human appearance but only 1 meter tall.
Carbajal told: "I was afraid... because I saw them all of a sudden; I was unable to speak... I thought that they were Martians. I had read in La Gaceta that there had been UFO sightings".
The two entities were "dressed of an outfit of blue shining color like that the frogmen use," Carbajal stated.
A dark helmet of blue color covered their head.
Their faces showed freckles - the newspaper said it looked "like damaged by variola" - and was of brown or dark color. The eyes were level, straight. Their mouths were normal. They were unable to describe the noses with exactitude, but said it appeared "flattened".
The hands, arms, legs, were normal. The witnesses were not certain of their sexes.
The clothes were tight-fitting clothing, close to the body. They had kinds of boots, of brilliant blue color, and brilliant black gloves.
Left: Catoja's report in FSR had this sketch of the entities. |
One of the entities held what was interpreted as a "weapon", as it pointed on the witnesses in a threatening manner. Mr. Carbajal compared it to a woman's hair-drier.
Both witnesses said they heard "Do not shout or we will bring you to the saucer" - this may not be verbatim but the newspaper's version. But they did not see any move of the mouths of the entities, so the investigator suggested that they probably received this message by telepathy. He also suggested they had distrorted the message's "natural meaning, this because of the psychological and emotional impact which the witnesses had to undergo."
Carbajal contined: "One of the beings raised a hand, put its index at the nose and they disappeared. The doors of the store were closed."
Carbajal took advantage of the opportunity to take the keys which were in the cash register and to get out of the store. The figures emerged suddenly at the same place. The keys in the hand, Mr. Carbajal moved towards the door, accompanied by Mr. Ledesma, who took an iron bar and a knife in order to confront the beings.
The entities disappeared again, to reappear in the store-room, or freight depot (shown on the map in [ld1] below).
Ledesma said: "I approached slowly, looked towards the inside, the beings threw a crate of cigarettes at me." The crate did not hit him, passing in front of him. He said: "Immediately I started to run towards the exit door, which Carbajal had managed to open."
When Catoja asked whether, during the materialization and the dematerialization, some sound or noise was perceived, Carbajal answered "Yes. They made TIN... TIN... TIN... Only when they disappeared."
This incident lasted roughly 5 to 10 minutes, according to the witnesses.
Once outside, they closed the door with a lock and drove away from the places to Tucuman in a van of the shop, to meet Carbajal's father: "Dad... dad... robbers attack your store."
Catoja sumamrizes the continuation, saying the witnesses returned accompanied by Manuel Carbajol, who stated at the police station of the El Timbo village that his trade was the target of an attack. Police officer Miranda, the police chief, the witnesses, and Manuel Carbajal arrived on the spot. Entering, they did not meet anybody inside the store, and noted that no money missed in the cash register. The head of the police force of Tucuman requested a report on the occurence.
Cronica apparently said that the event caught the attention of the local population which then gathered to come to see the consequences of the phenomenon. They said the whole family was very well appreciated in the country.
Cronica said that after being alerted, "Manuel Carbajal embarked his family in his car and quickly traveled the distance which separated him from Las Salinas." "He passed opposite his place to go directly to the police station, where he stated that he was burglarized. The Police chief, Adjudant Miranda, gun in hand, accompanied the tradesman. And, together, with precaution, they opened the door that was closed with a key and a lock. Inside, except the stuff which had fallen, there was nobody. In the safe that Mr. Carbajal opened in the presence of the police officer, nothing was missing. No trace neither of stealing, nor foreigners. The sites of the shelves from which the bottle and the pot had fallen coincides with two spaces where there are plastic plates of green color to make the light come inside. The roof is made out of zinc. 'Maybe they were trying to get out, the store owner suggested'."
What may seem suggested, though not clearly reported, is that the beings could not have left the closed store by normal ways. However, Cronica said some of the shop's doors had bars to close them from the inside, and nothing says whether one of these doors was opened when the police came.
Catoja apparently looked for other witnesses in the area.He found nobody who could confirm the incident, but told that "In the zone, before the observation, strange lights were perceived two weeks before, at the site of the salt company", 200 meters from the store.
The witnesses of the encounter said that "In a house that the witnesses showed to me, they told me that it was the target of stones throwing, whose origin was unknown to them." This remark later led British ufologist Gordon Creighton, FSR editor, a "Djinns" and "psychic phenomena" buff, to consider that the case was "poltergeistic", while suggesting that the parapsychologist should now consider that the origin of these poltergeists had been seen, for once, and seems to come from an "external intelligence" rather than from their witnesses' psyche.
Catoja, or the witnesses, also said: "Some reported that three years ago, in the "Ramadeda de Abajo", in the same department, but more to the east flying saucers came down."
In Cronica, the other events were: "Some people remembered that three years ago, in Ramada de Abajo, in the same department, but more to the east, one said that flying saucers came down. Two weeks ago, in a salt company, just opposite the store, there was a strange event: a lamp which died out and, although relit on several occasions, ended up leaving the places in darkness. In an abandoned house, other people reported that one said that there were noises as if stones were thrown."

(The following reports are recounted as a matter of public interest. They must be considered unverified until subject to some first-hand investigation. Submitted by Jane Thomas.) San Miguel de Tucuman, Argentina. -— Investigating noises in a store in this sugar and citrus town, an employee and friends found two short humanoids dressed in brilliant blue tight-fitting suits. They were holding a "weapon" resembling a hair drier. Telepathic messages allegedly were received that the beings wanted to take one of them aboard their craft. The beings had pockmarked, "unpleasant" faces and they "wore a kind of brilliant object" at ear level, and appeared and disappeared from one spot to another inside the store. The witnesses became frightened and fled! (Cronica; Buenos Aires, 9/29/78.) |
[Ref. ni1:] UNIDENTIFIED SOURCE IN 1979:
Some cases of appearances of humanoids noted recentlyCases of type CA1 This first [first in the article] observation of humanoids occurred on September 10, 1978, at some 22 km in the north of Tucuman, in Argentina, and the witnesses were two young boys. A particular fact which deserves to be stressed, it was two beings small sizes (less than one meter) which were inside a store in rather particular circumstances where we do recognize our "burglars". We will just recall the facts such as they were reported back in the Press, and in particular in "La Razon" for September 12, 1978: "Two young boys; Michel CARBAJAL 15 years old, and Michel LEDESMA 23 years old, stated to have lived a strange experience inside the store of Manuel Carbajal, the father of the first young man. The event caught the attention of the local population which then gathered to come to see the consequences of the phenomenon. It is about the appearance of two beings of a curious aspect and of small size. According to data collected on the spot, the two young people were alone in the dining room which is contiguous to the shop, while all the family, very well appreciated in the country, had left to San Miguel de Tucuman to visit relatives. The two boys saw that the television set had problems and, simultaneously, a stereophonic apparatus |
that they were listening to started to glitch. Then, they heard noises in the store, which is actually a mini service where one sells a bit of everything. Immediately, they came out by a side door and, after having closed it again, they moved resolutely towards the commercial room which is contiguous to the dining room. What they saw while entering there is that the balance was posed on the ground, a wine bottle, a sachet of caramel and a pot of mayonnaise strewed the ground, while the calculator was turned upside down. Up to now all was ordinary, except the vision which they then had: in front of the door of a deposit which gives onto the shop, door which had been closed, they saw two creatures of human appearance, of a stature of one meter, dressed of clothing of dark blue color like those the frogmen use, they said, covering them to the head, letting see only the face of an ugly aspect an "like damaged by variola." They held in the hand a gun resembling a woman's hair dryer. One of them rubbed its nose. The surprise was great, more still when noting than both humanoids appeared and disappeared at the same place. Three times, the witnesses observed this detail. The strangers asked them without opening the mouth, "that they say nothing, or they would carry them into the saucer". The two young people are unaware how they perceived these words. Immediately, Michel Ledesma, the oldest of the two, took a bar and a knife, he was determined to confront them, but the intruders entered the deposit which was obscure. From there, they threw a box of cigarettes at him; at once Michel Ledesma took advantage of this to flee with the owner's son. This encounter occurred at 16:40 Sunday and lasted only 5 minutes. Ledesma and Carbajal left in a van which was in the surroundings of the house, property of the store, and drove in haste towards the capital to seek the shop owner. They arrived, shouting "dad, they are robbing you, get there fast." Manuel Carbajal embarked his family in his car and quickly traveled the distance which separated him from Las Salinas, in the department of Burruyacu. He passed opposite his place to go directly to the police station, where he stated that he was burglarized. "Maybe they were trying to get out, the store owner suggested". The head of the police force opened an investigation. Some people remembered that three years ago, in Ramada de Abajo, in the same department, but more to the east, one said that flying saucers came down. Two weeks ago, in a salt company, just opposite the store, there was a strange event: a lamp which died out and, although relit on several occasions, ended up leaving the places in darkness. In an abandoned house, other people reported that one said that there were noises as if stones were thrown. In the store, the only trace which remained was that of the widespread wine and the balance broken at one of its panes, but, oddly, it does not have any bump. All the doors close from the inside with bars, except for one which has a lock and which closes from the outside." [Sketch caption:] Type of being of category A1 and extremely resembling those observed by the two young Argentinian boys, Michel CARBAJAL and Michel LEDESMA. - and a disabled person (whom I could not interview). INTRODUCTION OF THE INCIDENT Mr. Carbajal and his friends were alone, in the dining room. Miguel's parents having left to S. Miguel de Tucuman to visit relatives. As they were watching the television movie "Sport in the blood" in which Ben Johnson starred, the image started to shrink, and they turned off the television set. "We chose a portable radio set, to listen to the fussball game; but there was an interference" Mr. Carbajal said. According to their statements, they heard a noise in the store. This noise was heard in the dining room. They immediately took the disabled person out of the house thinking that robbers had penetrated in the store. Then they entered there. COURSE OF THE FACTS: Once entered, they noticed pieces of glass of a wine bottle on the ground, and mayonnaise pots in the same state. "My attention was caught by a balance that had fallen on the ground, the pane broken, but it did not show any bumps. The electronic calculator was far from its usual position." Further, at 6 meters of the witnesses, they observed, amazed with obvious signs at fear, what they did not recognize: Two forms with anthropomorphic conformations similar to the humans. DESCRIPTION OF THE ENTITES: Mr. Carbajal says: "I was afraid... because I saw them all of a sudden; I was unable to speak... I thought that they were Martians. I had read in - "The Gazette" that there were appearances of UFOS". The two entities were roughly a meter high. "Dressed of an outfit of blue shining color like that the frogmen use" Carbajal stated. One of the entities held a "WEAPON" which it pointed on us in a threatening manner. Mr. Carbajal compared it to a hair-drier. VIOLENT CONTACT: "Do not shout or we will bring you to the saucer". This is at least what they believed to hear, since they do not see any move of the mouths of the entities. They probably received the message by telepathy. One supposes that they distorted its natural meaning, this because of the psychological and emotional impact which the witnesses had to undergo. According to Mr. Carbajal: "One of the beings raised a hand, put its index at the nose and they disappeared. The doors of the store were closed." Carbajal took advantage of the opportunity to take the keys which were in the cash register and to get out of the store. The strangers emerged suddenly at the same place. The keys in the hand Mr. Carbajal moved towards the door, accompanied by Mr. Ledesma. The latter took an iron bar and a knife, in order to confront the mysterious beings. The entities disappeared again, to reappear in the store-room, or freight depot (see graphic). "I approached slowly, looked towards the inside, the beings threw a crate of cigarettes at me." Statement of Mr. Ledesma. The crate did not hit, passing in front of Mr. Ledesma. Immediately I started to run towards the exit door, which Carbajal had managed to open". During the materialization and the dematerialization, did you perceive some sound or noise? Yes, Carbajol answered. They made TIN... TIN... TIN... Only when they disappeared. SUMMARIZED CONTINUATION OF THE INCIDENT: Once outside, they closed the door with a lock; moving away from the places in a van (property of the trade), Tucuman destination. As soon as they arrived, Mr. Carbajol [sic] moved towards his father: "Dad... dad... robbers attack your store." The witnesses returned accompanied by Mr Manuel Carbajol. ENTITIES REPORTED INSIDE A SHOP IN ARGENTINAJorge Eduardo Catoja We are indebted to the Editorial Committee of our French companion-journal Lumières Dans La Nuit, from No. 198 of which (October 1980) we have translated the curious item. Though many will find the report hard to swallow we think it worth recording, because it seems to smack very strongly - as so many "UFO stories" do - of the classical poltergeist phenomena familiar to us from the annals of psychical research. It is admittedly difficult to recall any good "poltergeist case" in which the witnesses actually claimed to have Seen the causative agency. Consequently, most parapsychological investigators nowadays tend to veer away from the idea that any external intelligent factor (i.e. other than the human subject or subjects present in the case) can be involved with poltergeists, and they prefer to seek other less bizarre explanations. Note, however, that in the present case the two causative entities allegedly vanished temporarily from sight a feature that sounds extremely "poltergeistic." The author, Argentinian ufologist Jorge Eduardo Catoja, states that he visited the scene of the phenomena and personally interrogated the witnesses. EDITOR At approximately 4.40 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 1978, in Las Salinas, a small town near San Miguel de Tucuman in northern Argentina, Miguel Angel Carbajal, aged 18, and his friend Miguel Ledesma, aged 23, were sitting in the home of the first-named, watching television, when the picture on the screen began to shrink, so they switched off the television set. They then put a record on the record-player and switched on, but found the disc turning very slowly as though at 16 r.p.m. From this they perceived that there was clearly a marked drop in the mains electricity current. 1 Finally, they tried to use a portable transistor radio to listen to a local game of football, but were obliged to abandon this too, owing to interference. The parents of Miguel Carbajal, absent from the house at the time, having gone to spend the afternoon with relatives in San Miguel de Tucuman, are the owners of a shop, and the shop adjoins the house. Both the young men are employed in the shop. Miguel Carbajal has had three years of primary school education, and one year of secondary. The extent of his daily reading does not go beyond the local newspaper, La Gaceta, and he is not a UFO buff or an addict of Science-Fiction. As for his companion, Miguel Ledesma, the latter is quite illiterate. There was nobody else in the house apart from one disabled member of the family. Just as the two young men were abandoning their attempt to get the portable radio to work, they heard noises coming from the adjoining shop. Thinking that thieves had broken info the premises, the boys first got the disabled relative out of the house, and then they opened the connecting door which led directly into the shop, where the first things to come to view were a smashed bottle of wine and some broken jars of mayonnaise strewn about on the floor. Proceeding a little further into the shop, they came upon a pair of scales thrown down onto the floor, with the glass smashed, and they noted that the electronic till had been shifted some distance from its normal position. Encounter with EntitiesAt this point they became aware of the presence in the shop, standing at a distance of about six metres from them, of two beings resembling humans in their general appearance. In the words of Miguel Carbajal, as reproduced in the article published in the Buenos Aires newspaper La Razon (Sept. 12, 1978): "I was thoroughly scared... for I suddenly saw them. I was unable to speak... I thought they must be Martians, because I had read in La Gaceta that there had been UFO sightings in the district." The two entities were about one metre in height, and 'dressed in bright blue one-piece suits like frogmen wear'. On their heads they had dark blue helmets. Their faces were brown, and the complexion freckled. The eyes of the entities were straight and level. Their noses, though the two witnesses could not describe these quite precisely, seemed to be 'flattish'. Their hands, arms, and legs all seemed 'normal' by human standards. As regards their sex, the witnesses were unable to judge for sure. The clothing of the entities (see sketch) was, as already described, a one-piece garment, close-fitting, and a helmet. On their feet they had what seemed to be high-boots, bright blue in colour. On their arms they had shiny black gauntlets up to above the elbow. |
One of the entities was holding a weapon of some sort, which he was pointing at them threateningly, and which Carbajal said was like a hair-drier. Entities Communicate"Do, not shout, or we will take you to the saucer!" This warning, heard by both the witnesses, seemed to come from the entities, though they saw no movement of the lips of either of the two beings, so that the message was probably given telepathically. Carbajal's account goes on to say that at this point one of the beings raised a hand and put the index finger to his nose, whereupon they both promptly vanished from sight (The outer doors of the shop were locked). Miguel Carbajal dashed over to the till to get out the keys to the doors of the shop, and as he did so the entities reappeared, in precisely the same position as before. Ledesma grabbed a knife and an iron bar and he and Carbajal, the latter with the store keys in his hand, made for the door. Violent ContactAgain the entities vanished, Ledesma told the reporters: "I stepped over lightly to the store-room and there they were again, in there. And they threw a crate of cigarettes at me. It missed, passing in front of me. At once I made a dash for the exit, which Carbajal in the meantime had managed to open." The two men were asked by reporters whether they had heard any sort of sound when the entities were materializing and dematerializing. "Yes", said Carbajal. "There was a sort of sound like TIN ...TIN ...TIN .." but only when they were vanishing." Once out of the shop, they secured the door with padlock and chain and dashed off into Tucuman in the firm's van to find Manuel Carbajal Senior and tell him that thieves had broken into the shop. Then all three returned to the shop and reported the affair to the local police station, at El Timbo. Police Commissioner Miranda at once proceeded with them to the shop, but when they got there, the entities were not to be seen. They checked the contents of the till, and found that no money seemed to be missing. The witnesses estimated that the episode had lasted about 5-10 minutes. UFO Investigator's VisitArgentine investigator Jorge Eduardo Catoja, who prepared this report after making a personal inspection of the scene and after interviewing the two witnesses, made a number of interesting discoveries when questioning people living in the neighbourhood. For example, he found that, two weeks previously, two strange lights had been seen over a near-by salt mine (the only local industry.) And the occupants of a house near there told him that they had recently been the victims of a mysterious plague of stone-throwing.' Other people whom the investigator questioned re-called that three years ago there had been UFO landings at a place known as Ramadeda de Abajo, lying to the east of Las Salinas. Notes1. The 'shrinkage' of the TV picture would also have been a typical result of such a drop in the current - G.C. 2. And here we have the most characteristic and typical of all the features found in cases of pollergeistic infestations - namely "stones throwing!" - G.C. |

The author indicates that on September 10, 1978, in the suburbs of San Miguel de Tucuman (Argentina), in a general-purpose store (and also a warehouse of big size) empty, Miguel Angel Carbajal, the son of the manager, his friend Ledesma and another crippled friend follow in the dining room house a television broadcast. A few months before, a house close to the store was bombarded by stones in an unexplainable manner. Gradually, the image narrows until becoming not visible. They turn off the television set and connect a record player but this one works in slow speed without reason. Convinced that the electrical supply network suffers from a fall of tension they light a small portable radio set: the shows are inaudible. They hear noises of objects falling into the store. Thinking of robbers, Carbajal and Ledesma put their crippled friend in safety out of the house, then open the door of the store. Mayonnaise pots and a wine bottle are broken on the ground. A balance also fell, pane broken. At 6 m of them are 2 beings of humanoid appearance but of small size, dressed in tight-fitting outfits, observing them with a threatening attitude. 1 of the 2 beings seized on a counter a case filled with cigarettes packs and throws it towards the witnesses. Then 1 of the being raises a hand towards its face: when its index comes into contact with its nose, the 2 entities disappear in the air (6).

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Las Salinas, San Miguel de Tucuman, Argentina, on September 10, 1978, at 1640, two men were sitting in their home when they began to experience TV interference, they attempted to use a stereo player, and a radio, but these did not function properly also. They then heard some noises coming from an adjoining shop that was connected to their house. They went to investigate and found some broken bottles on the floor and some other damage. Moments later they became aware of two short beings standing nearby. These were dressed in bright blue one-piece suits, dark blue helmets, and high boots bright blue in color and on their arms shiny black gauntlets that went up above the elbow. Their faces were brown and their complexion was pockmarked, their eyes normal and their noses flat. One of the figures was holding an object resembling a "hair dryer" and was pointing it at the witnesses. Both men then heard a telepathic message warning them not to scream. At this point one of the witnesses ran to the door and both figures were seen putting their fingers up their noses vanishing instantly and appearing at a different location in the shop, this they did several times as the witnesses, one armed with a knife ran around trying to exit the premises. Some empty crates were thrown at the witnesses during the process. The witnesses finally managed to get out and summoned the police who searched the premises but found nothing. Neighbors had seen strange lights in the area.

Moments later they became aware of the presence of two short beings. They were dressed in bright blue, one-piece suits with dark blue helmets, and bright blue knee-high boots. On their arms they wore shiny black gauntlets that went above the elbow. Their faces were brown and their complexion pockmarked, their eyes looked normal and their noses were flat. One of the figures was holding something that looked like a "hair dryer," and was pointing it at the witnesses. Both men then received a telepathic message warning them not to scream. At this point one of the witnesses ran for the door and both figures were seen by the other putting their fingers against their noses and vanishing, then reappearing in a different location in the shop. They did this several times as the first witness, armed with a knife, ran around trying to get out of the shop. Some empty crates were thrown at the witnesses during the melee. The men finally managed to get out, and summoned the police who searched the premises but found nothing. Neighbors had seen strange lights in the area."
And: "Little men observed. An unidentified object at close range and its occupants were observed by two witnesses at a shop (Carbajal). A dwarf was seen."
And: "Two men were sitting in their home when they began to experience TV interference, they attempted to use a stereo player, and a radio, but these did not function properly also. [Ref. ud2:] "UFODNA" WEBSITE:
The website indicates that on 15 August 1978 at 16:40 in Las Salinas, Argentina, "Heard noise from store, met two short men, wore brilliant blue tight-fitting suits, "unpleasant faces". Telepathy: "take you to saucer, nothing will happen to you." Vanished, reappeared. Locked inside."
And: "Little men observed. An unidentified object at close range and its occupants were observed by three male witnesses, typical age 23, in a town (Carbajal; Ledesma). Two dwarves, each wearing a luminous blue diver's suit, were seen."

The incident allegedly occured to 16:40, it was thus daylight outside, but the alleged events take place inside and nobody seems to have said anynthing about lighting conditions. Since the witnesses would have seen the objects fallen on the ground it was likely not totally dark, but it would have been the least to do to specify if the room were dark or lighted. However the description of the colors of skin and clothing of the entities suggests that the visibility could not have been too bad.
One would have liked to know how the sketch of the entities was done. Cronica newspaper? Investigator's? Was the sketch approved by the witnesses or not?
Another missed aspect is the power source of the portable radio. Some UFO incidents are well-known for being allegedly accompanied by some electrical effects. We have some effects here, but either they were ordinary, a commonplace power drop in the area, or they were less ordinary, an unexplained drop of power affecting any power source. So, when we read that the portable transistor radio was in trouble, we should also learn whether it run on batteries or was plugged to a power socket. On the other hand, we are not exactly told the radio had a power proble, we are more invited to think it suffered from interference. Were there other cases of interference in the area? We are not told, as if the matter had not been investigated either.
