Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

A group called S.H.A.D.O apparently reported, in Tuscany, the evening of April 22, 1978 around the 23:15 some witnesses observed from the houses of Corsagna the passage of three luminous elements in formation in "V", following a parabola trajectory, ending behind a hill near the country of Cerreto.

One hour later, on April 23, 1978, at 00:15 a.m., in Cerreto, Mrs Cesarina Campioni, as she went upstairs to go to bed, saw a strange and luminous reflection which came from the meadow below at the back of her house.

She opened a window and saw two figures walking hopping like "hobbits". Her initial amazement changed to fear when she heard guttural, metallic and unintelligible voices coming from the beings.

The woman said the figures were about 1 meter tall, so that initially she thought they were two dogs; but when they came closer to her she saw they weren't.

She said they wore outfits of metallic appearance, a little inflated at the chest, shining under the rays of full moon. Their headwere covered with helmets or berets with a point, and a dark visor on the front. They had a kind of belt or dark strip.

Perhaps seeing they were spotted, the two beings fled, hopping, entered a narrow way, and were lost behind some olive-trees.

The author indicates that according to " S.H.A.D.O'S ", in Cerreto, in Tuscany, the evening of April 22, 1978 around the 23:15 some witnesses observed from the houses of Corsagna the passage of three luminous elements in formation in "V", tracing a parabola, losing themselves behind a hill near the country of Cerreto.

One hour later, on April 23, 1978, at 00:15 a.m., Mrs Cesarina Campioni, while she climbed the steps of her interior staircase in her home to go to sleep, saw a strange and weir luminous reflection which came from the meadow below at the back of her house, she opened the window and thus observed two individuals who walked hopping like "hobbits". Her initial amazement changed of fear when she heard come out of both sounds or "voices", guttural, metallic and unintelligible, lady Cesarina described their clothing and their size: they had a height around the meter, to the point that the lady believed to be confronted to "two dogs". It is only when they were close to her that she managed to observe them and to say "They wore outfits of metallic appearance a little inflated at the chest, the whole shone under the rays of full moon, the head was covered with helmets or berets with a point, a dark visor on the front and they had a kind of belt or dark band". At this point both, perhaps seeing they were spotted, fled, hopping, entered a narrow way, and were lost behind some olive-trees.

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Cerreto, Toscana, Italy, on April 23, 1978, at 0015 a.m., around 2315 several witnesses spotted a formation of luminous objects flying in a V-formation over a hill near Cerreto. Sometime later Cesarina Campioni was preparing to go to bed when she was attracted to a strange luminescence coming from her backyard. Looking out the window she noticed a strange "individual," that walked in strange leaps and bounds over the ground. At the same time she heard a deep guttural metallic, incomprehensible voice. She described the individual as slightly over a meter in height. It wore a shiny metallic loose fitting outfit that covered his body entirely. The head was covered with a pointy helmet with a dark oval-shaped visor. It also wore a dark belt around its waist. The strange entity bounded away and disappeared into a nearby olive grove.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "Archivio SHADO."

Points to consider:

"S.H.A.D.O" was the name of the organization of the heroes of the TV science-fiction show "UFO" by Gerry Anderson. It would be nice to know whether this ufology group in Italy did investigate this report or not, as it now stands to me, it is a story of unknown origin.
