The regional press promptly reported on a sighting by a group of five children which took place the evening of Sunday, July 28, 1968.
These five children, of Saint-Stanislas-of-Kostka, Quebec, Canada, all used to know each other, share plays, work in the fields with their parents. They were Denis Léger, 12, described as a merry boy with a sharp glance and not highly-strung at all, his brother Régent, 15, who speaks fast and jumps at the least noise, and the children of the Sauvé family, Nicole, 14, always smiling, calm and intelligent, Paul, 20, afraid not to be believed but very interested in convincing, and Joanne, 9, not very loquacious but sure of herself.
At 9 p.m. that day, the weather was described as nice, it did not rain and the night was almost complete. Denis Léger and his friend Paul Sauvé had fun, peacefully, on the second floor of the Sauvé house, when Denis threw a glance out of the window giving on oats and corn fields and saw a kind of circle girdled of a shining red halation.
He quickly called Paul Sauvé and the three other children, and a few seconds later, a second similar object appeared. They moved slowly, continuously, without sudden starts. While one of them stopped, the other came down vertically, resembling a crown slipping quietly towards the ground, without noise.
The amazed children saw this thing touching the ground in an oats field, within 1000 feet approximately of their point of observation. Denis Léger exclaimed that it is a flying saucer, which the others thought too. He was sure of that because he had already had an observation the previous year during the afternoon, when a saucer with three characters had followed him at 150 feet during nearly five minutes. After having told this preceding sighting during approximately 10 minutes to his comrades, all returned at the window, and the luminous object was still there.
Having recovered from their surprise, the five children decided to go to look from the window of the first floor, then from the yard, for better seeing the object. Denis Léger, the bravest in the group, went the first on the gallery, flashlight in hand, joined by his friends. He first directed the pencil of light right in front of him, on a wood fence at 50 feet from the place he stood.
The children were frightened, and ran away full speed inside the house because the lamp had lit a head exceeding of the fence, bald, black or brown, which seemed embedded between the two shoulders, neckless, with round eyes of normal sizes but wrinkled, and ordinary ears but surrounded of black hair or black curly short hairs. The mouth was not abnormally broad, the nose was flat, the normal was chin, and this head appeared a little larger than a human's head. The children estimated that the being might have been 1.20 meters tall, and they noticed that his shoulders were broader than the normal, whereas the legs and the feet were hidden by the darkness. What impressed the children most was his skin "wrinkled, scabious, with bumps."
As soon as he was lit, this being carried his right hand at the level of his face, a hand which showed five fingers and which was very broad, black, embossed, scabious like a toad's skin. He opened and closed this hand repeatedly like "a baby who wants to greet", he continued to do this while moving quietly back towards the barn in very small steps, then it disappeared or was lost from sight.
Denis Léger went up on the second floor with Paul Sauvé, from where he could still observe the luminous saucer. Nicole Sauvé took the phone to try to call her absent parents, the youngest Joanne Sauvé was so terrified shed she locked herself up in the bathroom, shaking with fear.
Régent Léger had remained at the window, when he saw in his turn in front of him the same ugly and black figure and the scabious hand which now knocked on the pane. He heard a growl similar to the mooing of a cow, and was paralysed of fright, unable to to move nor to speak. The creature then moved back and disappeared again.
The children then went up at the second floor, and a few minutes after the knocks on the window pane, the saucer, still of a red luminosity, rose in the airs vertically and slowly, without noise, until it disappeared in the clouds or the sky. The other object was not visible any more at this time.
The Légers and Sauvés parents indicated that they accept the story about the saucer, the more so as Mr. Sauvé had also seen one, and they noted the importance of the fright of the children but they remained skeptical as for the creature. Denis Léger recalled his previous encounter to his father, and while the latter describes his son as a brave boy, he also noted that he had been frightened and nervous this time.
The journalist specifies that the children perfectly resisted three interrogations separated by one day each one and eachh of a duration of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, without ever varying in their version of the occurrence, without bragging about having seen a saucer and without being more talkative than reason. They answered the questions that were asked with calm and without exaggerating, they did not fall into traps set to make them contradict themselves, and it was noted that they were not amateurs of fantastic stories nor televised science-fiction buffs.
At the place where the five children stated that the saucer had landed, a huge oats field, it was noted that a circular surface of 15 feet in diameter had been crushed and that the oats had been pushed down in a circular manner like it would have happened with a whirlwind. A trace, 4 inches broad, long of 60 feet, and which stopped suddenly, left from the circle.

Is all that the result of five skilful and well orchestrated imaginations? It does not seem so. They are five, all accustomed to be together, at working in the fields with their parents or wander close to the small river running near to their respective houses. They are Denis Leger, 12 years old, a merry boy with a sharp glance and not nervous at all. His brother Regent, is 15 years old and speaks quickly and jumps at the least noise. It had followed me during five minutes approximately at 20 feet from the ground. I was within 500 feet, on the bicycle. I saw the interior, it was easy because the top of the saucer was made of glass, approximately three or four inches the thick one. There were three people, one sat at an end and two others at the other end. They seemed small and black. It resembled a round and shiny saucer. There was nothing below and above and it made no noise. I must acknowledge that I was really afraid and that I have I was glad I did not see it anymore when I entered wood to return home." (Let us specify here that indeed, trees cover the road at a certain place). Once his account finished, Denis turns over to the window followed by the others. The luminous object is still there; approximately ten minutes had gone by. The being might measure about 4 feet but his shoulders are broader than the normal. The legs and the feet are hidden by the darkness. The children are afraid, mainly because of its skin " wrinkled, scabious, with bumps." As soon as that it felt observed and lit, the being puts his right hand at the level of its face. It is a hand with 5 fingers, "very broad, black, embossed, scabious like the skin of a toad". It opened and closed again as that of a baby who wants to greet. It remains in this position while the creature "would move back quietly towards the barn by taking very small steps." Then, it disappears. In the windowDenis goes up again to the second floor from where he still observes the luminous saucer. Paul is at his sides. Nicole is on the telephone and calls her absent parents. Joanne locked herself up in the bathroom; she is shaking all over. Regent, the oldest, is at the window when he sees in his turn right in front of him, the "same ugly and black figure and the scabious hand which knocks at the pane " It hears even a growl similar to the mooing of a cow. Paralyzed with terror, he cannot move nor to speak. He is white as a sheet. The creature does not insist, moves back and disappears again. Departure of the saucerThe children go up on the second floor. A few minutes after "the knocks on the pane", the saucer, still of a red luminosity rises in the airs "vertically and slowly until it disappears in the clouds or the sky." The other object which accompanied the first when it arrived, must have left earlier because it is not seen anymore. No particular noise, no explosion of light. Mr. and Mrs. Sauvé accept "the story of the saucer" but remain skeptics as for the creature. The last summer, Mr. Sauvé, a very calm man, had himself seen a "saucer" within 500 feet of his house. That did not impress him much. The time to go inside to alert his wife and the object had already disappeared. When returning, Mrs. Sauvé found her children in "a state of extreme nervousness and terribly frightened." The parents of Denis and Régent thought the same. Let us hear Mr. Henri Leger: "I know my son Denis well. He is not a "shy" kid who is easily impressed. To walk in the wood and the fields at night does not stress him at all. But the evening after it happened (Sunday, July, 29) he reminded me of the time when he had said to have seen a flying saucer at 500 feet (last year). He was frightened, very nervous and he is not used to show such a behavior." The general opinion is that something really extraordinary must have occurred to terrorize their children so much. A pure fabrication?Surely not a pure fabrication. Is it possible that five children from 9 to 15 years perfectly resist three interrogations separated by one day each, and each one of a duration of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes without never varying in their version of the facts unless they simply tell the truth? It also must be noted that they do not brag about having seen a saucer; they do not regard that as some sort of fame and they are not more talkative than what is needed. They answer the questions that are asked to them, calmly, without exaggerating. Questioned whether they often saw space adventures on the television or if they were amateurs of comic books telling fantastic stories, the young people answered in the negative. They are frank; when one of them was asked whether he was always the first in the classroom, he gave this answer to us: "No, I am always the last." The traps, the annoying questions, the details to be repeated, nothing makes them change their testimony. The place of the landingAt the place where the five children claim to have seen the saucer land gently (a huge oats field) it is easy to note that a circular surface of 15 feet in diameter was crushed and that the oats were flattened in a circular manner like from some whirlwind. From this place, a trace of 4 inches broad, long of 60 feet, which stops brutally, can also be noticed. An expert's opinionThe author of the book "I saw flying saucers", Mr. Henri Bordeleau, from Montreal, who has been interested in the problem of the flying saucers for 20 years, went in person on the location and questioned the children after having lengthily studied the trace left by the apparatus. In his opinion, the case observed with Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka, in the county of Beauharnois, is the "most beautiful, and the most explicit that has clearly been recorded for 20 years". "Never," he added, "was it possible to gather so many details. It is certain that these children do not lie. All that they said and described corresponds perfectly so that we know already, to what was already observed elsewhere."
It is at this distance that the children saw the strange being. It was placed behind the fence where the boy bearing a hat is located on the above photograph. The photograph below shows the place where the saucer is said to have landed.

The author indicates that in St-Stanislas de Kostka, province of Quebec, Canada, on July 28, 1968, around 9 p.m., five children aged from 9 to 15 years observed two circular luminous objects surrounded by a red halation.
One of the two objects landed in a field of oats at 300 meters of their house, while the other soon disappeared.
The children were quickly convinced that they are dealing with a flying saucer, more especially as one of them had already been the witness of a close encounter of the third kind.
The children went down in the yard and suddenly saw in the beam of their flashlight a being, 1.20 meters tall approximately, bald, with a dark and wrinkled skin.
The children took refuge in the house, and the entity came to knock at the window pane, before disappearing.
A little later the saucer flew away slowly and vertically.
At the place where it was said to have landed according to the children, the oats were found to be broken at 10 centimeters of the ground and were folded back circularly, like under the effect of a swirl, inside a zone of 5 meters in diameter.
From this circle, a small trace left, 10 to 12 centimeters wide and 18 meters long, which stopped abruptly, and which one might identify to a track left by the occupant.
Jacques Scornaux notes that there are thus no footsteps traces in the strict meaning of the term. He also indicates that Rene Fouéré commented on that "some will say that two observations of saucers with occupants, is a bit too much for only one man and that, when you are only 12 years old, this makes a quite filled youth's life."
Jacques Scornaux specifies that the parents of the young witnesses, however, were convinced, because of the fright of the children, that those had really witnessed an utterly extraordinary display, according to the article in " Space Phenomena " which he quotes as source.
He specifies that the investigation into this case was carried out by Henri Bordeleau, and indicates the book "J'ai Chassé Les Pilotes de Soucoupes Volantes" by the latter as source at pages 77, 79, 103-109.

Albert Rosales notes that in St. Stanislas de Kostka, Quebec, Canada, on late July 1967 at an unknown time, about a year before his encounter of 7/28/68, 11-year old Denis Leger said a flying object, "resembling a round and shiny saucer," followed him for about 5 minutes, at 20-foot altitude, as he rode his bicycle. The bottom was made of glass 3 or 4 inches thick, and he could see three persons inside, one seated at one end and the others at the other. "They were small and black."
