A ufology book by Michel Figuet and Henri Julien reports in 1993 that one Frank N..., who was a 12-year-old schoolboy in Sorgues in Vaucluse in France in 1965, claimed he was riding his bicycle at 4 p.m. one spring day in 1965, and while coming out of the wood of Brante, he saw on his left a small being not more than 50 centimeters tall, covered from head to feet of a shining outfit. Its cranium had the shape of an egg, its eyes were very large, its mouth was thin, no ears were seen.
The witness realized that it was not normal became frightened. As he was of curious temper, he pedaled faster to join the being to see it closely. When to the being saw that, it remained motionless during a few seconds. When the boy put his bicycle down to the ground, it left.
It walked like somebody who has flat feet, raising the knees so high that it appeared to make jumps. The boy believed that it started to utter sounds like "hic... hic... ", then it fled with agility while the boy followed at several meters.
Then, it looked back and made gestures at the boy to order to make him stop. The boy wanted to chatter with him, it put a hand on his heart, tended the other to the boy and said told him: "I, friendly" two or three times.
The boy supposes that it understood his intentions, because it did not look frightened any more and took a step in his direction.
At this moment, the boy discovered a craft which appeared to be made of a "flexible" material to him.
The small being approached the boy who wished to catch it, but as if it had guessed his thought, the being put out a kind of small "hair-drier", aimed at the boy, who lost balance at once and could not move any more.
Somebody pulled the boy back, it was a man who witnessed all the scene and probably wanted to protect the boy, but this man remained paralyzed too.
They then saw the small being enter the craft while uttering a last shout. After it disappeared inside, the top of the "craft" appeared slightly domed. The craft vaguely resembled a large matchbox with very rounded angles, and by observing it well it could have been one meter wide, more than three meters long and approximately eighty centimeters high. On the top, there was a round "cabin" which shone like a fluorescent tube.
The place where it had been posed was a narrow passage in the wood. When it took off, the craft seemed to pass between the trees without breaking anything, and it made no noise. It rose a few meters, moved a hundred step and landed in a meadow.
A farmer passed very close to the craft, and the pilot of the craft must have seen him because its craft took off in oblique with a gentle whistling sound and disappeared in the sky at a tremendous speed.
Before flying away, the craft had started to shine, and on board, there seemed to be three silhouettes identical to the small being who was observed on the ground.
The boy said that he recovered the use of its muscles little by little, just as the person who wanted to help, and they both discussed what had just happened to them. The man did not tell his name and the boy never saw him again.
The boy was afraid, trembled, and was very shaken.
In Sorgues, he met buddies and told them everything. They brought him to the police station where a police officer recorded his written statement. The boy does not know whether it was taken seriously, and never again wanted to talk about it.
The two other witnesses could not be found, and an investigation carried out by the state police and a local ufology group did not allow "to affirm anything" but that the honesty and the frankness of the young witness appeared obvious to all.

The authors indicate that a report was made by Frank N..., who was a 12-year-old schoolboy in Sorgues in 1965. They quote his text or his statement.
He was riding his bicycle at 4 p.m. one spring day in 1965, and while coming out of the wood of Brante, he saw on his left a small being not more than 50 centimeters tall, covered from head to feet of a shining outfit. The authors ask themselves whether he just told "a nice comic strip story", and consider it regrettable that the two other witnesses could not be found.
They specify that an investigation carried out by the state police and a local ufology group did not allow "to affirm anything" but that the honesty and the frankness of the young witness appeared obvious to all.
[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:
Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Sorgues, Provence, France, on Spring 1965, in the evening, a 12-year old schoolboy was walking on a field near a forested glade when he came upon a landed craft, square in the bottom and topped off with a round transparent dome. As he stood about 20 feet away from the object a small man emerged from the craft and approached the young witness. The humanoid was described as about 40cm to 50cm in height, wearing a tight-fitting combination that covered him from head to toes. He had an egg-shaped head and large slanted eyes, small mouth and otherwise human features. He carried what appeared to be a futuristic pistol in his right hand and pointed it to the witness; at this point a ray of light illuminated the witness who became instantly paralyzed. The humanoid approached the witness and emitted sounds resembling "hic?hic". He then walked back to the craft and entered. The object, which was about 3 meters in diameter then took off and flew silently away. At this point the witness regained his movement again.
Albert Rosales indicates as source H. Julien, M. Figuet, OVNI en Provence, Raoul Robe.
This is a very frustrating case, which poses many questions, and I am rather astonished that ufologists Michel Figuet, skeptic, and Henri Julien, did not realize that certain points great importance should have been clearly indicated.
First of all, nothing shows when the witness reported his story. I can only note that it does not appear in the bulky book by Figuet and Ruchon in 1979 listing all the close encounters in France; since the book was intended to be a complete catalogue, this suggests that the story surfaced after 1979. This also explains that there is no precise date.
Then, nothing tells us exactly what the witness text given in quotation is. Is this a letter, a transcription of an oral testimony? It is impossible to tell. Is it totally anonymous or did ufologists know the full witness name and just did not publish it by respect of anonymity? Did they meet the witness or only receive a letter?
Lastly, the most annoying is the ambiguity of what is said about the investigation. We have a witness who not only claims to have talked of his experience to buddies in Sorgues immediately after it occurred, buddies that could have been searched for and interviewed, but there is also the claim that the witness testified to authorities, and the indication that authorities checked about it, and then we are only told that this "does not make it possible to affirm anything." But it was very simple to state clearly if yes or no a written statement was found or not found. This simple clear answer could have possibly established that the witness did not lie on this, or could have lied on this.
The failure to provide this kind of information clearly leaves us now with a case which would require that such checks were remade. My feeling is that the authors simply satisfied themselves with leaving the story in doubts so that one can think of "a nice comic strip story" - what it seems to be in if one considers the attitude of the boy at the same time frightened but bold enough to talk to the small being.
