Curtis McNear (1945 - 1999) aka "Curtis Knight" was a New York musician, composer and frontline man of the band Curtis Knight and the Squires. world famous guitarist Jimi Hendrix had been playing the guitar in the band before his fame days. After Hendrix obtained fame with his own band, and after his death, Knight claimed Hendrix was a very special man who had been in contact with UFOs.
Knight reportedly narrated in his 1992 book "Jimi Hendrix: Starchild", that on a cold winter night near Woodstock, New York, USA, in 1965, at 4 a.m. as the band was trying to make it back to Manhattan through a freezing blizzard, the wind was whipping the snow around their van so fiercely that they missed the turn-off leading to the state highway in the direction home.
Stuck in a drift that reached the hood of their van, the men were freezing when suddenly the road in front of them lit up, as a bright phosphorescent object cone-shaped, "like a space capsule" landed in the snow about 100 feet up ahead on a tripod landing gear.
Knight asked Hendrix if he saw this too, but Hendrix just smiled, seeming to be staring out into the night, his eyes riveted on the craft.
A door opened on the side of this craft, and an 8-feet-tall entity came forth. Knight told its skin was yellowish, and slits instead of eyes, a forehead coming to a point, and a head running straight into his chest, leaving the impression that he had no neck.
The entity floated to the ground and glided toward the trapped occupants of the van, while the snow was melting in its wake. Knight said its body generated tremendous heat, so much so that as it came across a small rise, the snow disappeared around in all directions. In a matter of what seemed like seconds, the being came over to the right-hand side of the van where Hendrix was seated and looked right through the window, and Hendrix seemed to be communicating telepathically with it.
Knight said the interior of their vehicle began to heat up. The heat coming from the being evaporated the snow enough to free their imprisoned van, so they managed to drive on, while he looked back to see the road filling in with snow again and the craft lifting off like a rocket from a launching pad.
Knight said that Hendrix kept this a secret and that the other band members who were with them remembered nothing as if they had been placed under a spell, hypnotized.

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that near Woodstock, New York, in January 1965, at 04:00 a.m., a group of musicians (including Jimi Hendrix) driving back to Manhattan were stranded in a heavy blizzard and had gotten stuck in a heavy drift that reached the hood of their vehicle. It was bitter cold. The road ahead of them suddenly lit up, as a bright phosphorescent object, cone shaped, like a capsule landed in the snow about 100 feet up ahead. It stood on a tripod landing gear. Before any of the stunned occupants of the vehicle could move, a door opened on the side of the craft and an entity stepped out. He stood eight-feet tall, his skin was yellowish, and instead of eyes, the creature had slits. His forehead came to a point, and his head ran straight to his chest, leaving the impression that he had no neck. The being proceeded to float to the ground and glided towards the trapped occupants of the van. The snow seemed to melt in the wake of the creature. His body seemed to generate tremendous heat, so much so that as it came across a small rise, the snow disappeared around in all directions. In a matter of what seemed like seconds, the being came over to the right hand side of the van, where Hendrix sat and looked right through the window. According to other witnesses at the scene the creature seemed to be communicating telepathically with Hendrix. Immediately the interior of their vehicle began to heat up. The heat coming from the being evaporated the snow enough to free their imprisoned van. The being glide behind the van and the snowdrift by now had completely vanished. Turning the ignition the driver gunned the engine and drove away at high speed. As they looked back they could see the road filling in with snow again. The object was at the same instant lifting off like a rocket from a launching pad.

"Curtis Knight", whose real name was Curtis McNear, (1945 - 1999) was a New York musician, composer and frontline man of the band Curtis Knight and the Squires. It so happened that Jimi Hendrix became the guitarist of the band before his fame days. When Hendrix moved to England where he obtained fame with his own band The Jimi Hendrix Experience during the psychedelic era, Knight tried to capitalize on the fact that Hendrix had played in his band. Knight claimed he was influential in forming Hendrix' music - a blatantly meaningless claim. Curtis Knight had arranged a contract in the US between Hendrix and producer Ed Chaplin, granting 1% only of any royalties. Hendrix simply forgot about it when he moved to England, and Knight and Chaplin thus sued him.
Knight continued to make use of the fact that Hendrix had played in his band during many years, and ultimately wrote the book Jimi Hendrix: Starchild in which he tells numerous stories showing some sort of "paranormal Hendrix", whose talent must have come from other realms, who was followed by UFOs all around, made prophecies, traveled out of his body, was "telepathically tuned" with his close friends and "kept in touch with them via ESP."
Of course Hendrix was an extraordinary person and his musical gift was tremendous, and he was definitely very opened to anything extraordinary. However, there was never any shred of evidence that the 1992 alleged story of Hendrix and Knight's band saved one 1965 night by an angelic-like being who arrived in a spaceship is true.
