In 1976, popular French radio host Pierre Bellemare, in his show on extraordinary stories, apparently told that in March or April 1955, or in the Spring of 1955, around 9 a.m., in the Forest of Chizé, at the locality "Buffe à Jasse", in the Deux Sèvres department in France, a man and his wife drove at slow speed in a slope close to the highest top of the area, when through the trees without leaves, they saw an object on the ground 10 meters from the road.
The object was an odd mass of rather sharp colors, a mix of blue, green and gray, with at the top a dome resembling mica, slightly translucent, topped by a cone of red color, point upwards.
In front of this object, "kinds of beings" of various colors from 0.80 to 0.90 meters tall moved about, carrying "hennins", i.e. pointed hats in Middle-Age fashion.

The two ufologists indicate that in March or April 1955, around 9 a.m., in the Forest of Chizé, at the locality "Buffe à Jasse", a man and his wife drove at slow speed in a slope close to the highest top of the area, when through the trees without leaves, they saw an object on the ground 10 meters from the road.

The authors indicate that the source is Pierre Bellemare, Europe N.1, C.Q.F.D., February 1976.
[Ref. mf1:] MICHEL FIGUET:
Michel Figuet indicates in a listing of very doubtful cases that the one of spring 1955 in the forest of Chizé is such a case, explaining that there is no investigation, that the case comes from a Pierre Bellemare show on Europe 1 and that the information is meager.
[Ref. go1:] GODELIEVE VAN OVERMEIRE:
The Belgian ufologist indicates that in March-April 1955 in France in the forest of Chizé at "Buffe à Jasse", around 9 hours the witness and his wife drove at slow speed in a slope close to the highest top of the area, and he saw through the trees deprived of leaves a weird object on the ground within 10 meters of the road.
The object was a weird mass of rather colors, a mix of blue, green, gray, with a dome resembling mica, slightly translucent, surmounted of a cone of red color, point upwards. The bottom of the machine was hidden by grasses.
In front of this thing, beings carrying hennins, from 80 to 90 cm tall and of various colors, were maneuvering.
Godelieve van Overmeire indicates that the source is Michel Figuet and Jean-Louis Ruchon in "Ovni, Premier dossier complet...", Alain Lefeuvre publisher, 1979, page 214.
[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:
Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Foret De Chize, France, on April, 1955, at 0900 a.m., the witness saw a landed disc shaped object with a high dome on top in a forest area. Several humanoids wearing pointy headgear were seen moving next or near the object. No other information.
Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Figeut/Ruchon Ovni Dossiers.
[Ref. ud1:] "UFODNA" WEBSITE:
The website indicates that in April 1955 at 09:00 in Foret De Chize, France, a landed flying disc with a high dome on top was seen in a forest, with several humanoids wearing pointy headgear moving next to it, and a being, wearing a pointed helmet, was seen.
The sources are indicated as Delaire, J. Bernard, UFO Register Volume 7 (1976), Data Research, Oxford, 1976; and Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database.
The hennin was a conical shaped hat used in the middle-age.
As noted it Michel Figuet, the case is not very strong, coming from a radio show by Pierre Bellemare and not having been investigated. Let us note that it is also reported more than 20 years after it allegedly happened, by one or two people - this is not clear - who apparently remained anonymous, and that the primary source, i.e. the radio show, is not available for checking the accuracy of the summaries written later.
Sympathetic and fascinating Pierre Bellemare was very popular in those years, with radio shows and books generally relating to "extraordinary stories" of all kinds. There is no reason at all to doubt his good faith, or to doubt that someone really told him this episode; however, he was by no means a ufologist gifted with experience, and the narration of the story on the radio cannot be considered sufficient to establish a true strangeness of the case.
The UFO or object described is seen on the ground, never moving. The sharp colors, the pointed hats apparently of Middle Ages fashion, make me wonder whether there had not been simply some unusual cultural event on a topic of the Middle Ages, with costumed people around some colorful tent. On the other hand, if the "sorts of beings" measured indeed less than one meter and were actually seen within some 10 meters of the road, such an explanation does not stand up very well.
