First told in a British ufology magazine in 1969 by an author eager to mix UFOs and parapsychology, the story is nothing more than a vaguely summarized account obtained from an anonymous 10-year-old girl suffering an undocumented nervous disorder, and put under hypnosis due to that condition.
All that is said is that under hypnosis, she spoke about being in a flying saucer with two men, or three men, depending on the sources, and to have visited a planet with an advanced society.
One catalogue indicates that it happened on February 9, 1955, that the witness found herself suddenly inside a flying saucer while she was being hypnotized, that three men onboard lay on "gravity couches" as the craft approached a planet, then entered a hole in a mountain, and approached a city. She explored various buildings and saw a place where saucers were made, also were the beings eaten. The sun was smaller than ours, but the moon was larger and the constellations the same. She had to wear a helmet to go outside, since the air was not breathable. The craft had three globes beneath it, while the beings were both male and female and had black hair. The men wore overalls and the women short dresses. They spoke a language of their own but communicated with her by telepathy.
Some Australian ufologists tried to locate this person about 1989 to obtain more information, but in vain, and the case notwithstanding appeared without other note of caution in several ufological catalogues.

The Australian ufologist indicates that in Adelaide, South Australia, a 10-year-old girl, Janet X., was being treated for a slight nervous disorder. While under hypnosis for this condition she recounted a story of her interaction with aliens and a flying saucer. While in trance, she spoke of being in a saucer with three "men", and of visiting a planet with an advanced society.
The source is indicated as Flying Saucer Review Special No 3, pp 33-38b, with an Interview between P. Godic and P. Thomas, 1989.

The Australian ufologist indicates that in Adelaide, South Australia, a ten year old girl, Janet X., was being treated for a slight nervous disorder, and while under hypnosis she spontaneously recounted a story of her interaction with aliens and a flying saucer. In trance, she spoke of being in a saucer with three "men", and of visiting a planet with an advanced society.
Keith Basterfield indicates that the sources are H. S. W. Chibbett in 1969 in "UFOs and Parapsychology", in the Flying Saucer Review Special Issue 3, pp 33-38, and a second source is an interview between Pony Godic and original investigator Peter Thomas in 1989.

The authors indicate that the first alien abduction case in Australia they uncovered came via an article in the English "Flying Saucer Review" and was said to have occurred in Adelaide, South Australia, in 1955:
A 10-year-old girl, Janet X., was being treated for a slight nervous disorder, and while under hypnosis for this condition, she recounted a story of her interaction with aliens and a flying saucer.
She spoke of being in the saucer with three "men" and of visiting a planet with and advanced society.
The authors indicate that Pony Godic of UFORA spoke with one of the case's original investigators in 1989, but despite this, the authors have not been able to relocate Janet X. to reinterview her.
[Ref. js1:] JOHN SCHUESSLER:
The US ufologist indicates that in 1955, in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, a 10-year-old girl under hypnosis for a slight nervous disorder told of her interaction with two aliens while aboard their craft.
John Schuessler lists as UFO-related human physiological effects that this case is an abduction with memory loss.
The source is indicated as the Australian Abduction Catalogue by Keith Basterfield.
[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:
Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Adelaide, South Australia, in 1955, at an unknown time, a 10-year old girl recalled under hypnosis having been inside a disc shaped object and speaking with three men onboard the craft. The men apparently gave her a ride to a planet with an advanced society. No other information.
Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Keith Basterfield, Vladimir Godic and Pony Godic, IUR Vol. 14, #4.

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Adelaide, Australia, on February 9, 1955, at an unknown time, the 10-year old witness who was at the being treated by means of hypnosis found herself suddenly inside a flying saucer. Three men onboard lay on gravity couches as the craft approached a planet, then entered a hole in a mountain, and approached a city. A summary on this website indicates that in 1955 in Adelaide, South Australia, a 10 year old girl, Janet X., was being treated for a slight nervous disorder. Whilst under hypnosis for this condition she recounted a story of her interaction with aliens and a flying saucer. Whilst in trance she spoke of being in a saucer with three "men", and of visiting a planet with an advanced society.
[Ref. lg1:] LUIS R. GONZALES MANSO:
Luis R. Gonzalez Manso notes in his FirstHumCat catalogue that on February 9, 1955, in Adelaide, South Australia, the first psychic abduction occurred: a ten-year-old girl, Janet X, was being treated for a slight nervous disorder, and while under hypnosis she spontaneously recounted a story of her interaction with aliens and a flying saucer. Whilst in trance, she spoke of being in a saucer with three "men", and of visiting a planet with an advanced society.
Luis Gonzales indicates that his sources are Harold Chibett, "UFOs and parapsychology", FSR Special Issue #3, September 1969; Hilary Evans, Visions, Apparitions, Alien Visitors, 1984, pp. 184-5; and Jenny Randles, The Complete Book of Aliens and Abductions, 2000, pp. 64-65.
The witness was a child, and obviously not in sound condition, as it is mentioned that she suffered some "slight" nervous disorder, not detailed. A late source hides this information while altogether claiming to have given all the information.
Hypnosis is not a valid method in such cases: it only makes up for stories that nothing demonstrate to be real experiences. In 1955, there were many talks in newspaper, radios, conferences, adult discussions, about so so-called contactee George Adamski who falsely claimed, among other things, to have visited another planet with an advanced society, getting there on board a flying saucer piloted by human-looking extraterrestrial. The topic was very popular and much discussed, as the book written for him by Desmond Leslie, "Inside the Space Ships", was published that year.
Young Janet could have simply picked-up the story, she could have been impressed by its sensational content, she might have dreamed that it happened to her, and might thus have spontaneously told about it under hypnosis, in all good faith.
In such a context, to write that the case is an alien abduction, and that the witness had a physiological effect of loss of memory related to a UFO does not have any validity.
It can also be noted that this case constitutes a counterexample for the assertions that "abductions witnesses" are people without particularities since the "witness" here suffered of a nervous pathology, moreover not documented.
Left: Faked photograph of a saucer by alleged "contactee" George Adamski. When I managed to find and add the [ar2] source, I read it told that the saucer had "three globes beneath it." This then still confirmed my initial opinion that the history were of "Adamski" inspiration. |
