The Belgium flap:

On November 29, 1989, in the Eupen region:

At about 06:50 p.m. or shortly before 06:45 p.m. from Baelen, Mrs C. H.:

SOBEPS gives this information:

A same object than observed previously, or another one, was seen, perhaps returning to Eupen, at about 6:50 p.m. in Baelen by Mrs. H.

She sees an object with powerful white lights and a red flashing light, gliding slowly and silently across the sky going to Eupen, where its arrival may be that observed by another person.

Another report, in the Flying Saucer Review, indicates for this observation:

A few moments before 06:45 p.m., a witness whose name is given - but I am only giving her initials C. H. - was in Baelen, and saw “what looked like an aircraft, with two powerful headlights and an orange light flashing in rhythm with the pulsations of the heart (the periodicity of which is 0.8 seconds.)”.

This thing emitted no perceptible sound and was gliding along slowly and low through the sky fron Dolhain towards Eupen.

The authors say that it can consequently ne assumed that it was the same sighting as this other one in Baelen too.

There is a summary for this observation, published on the web by the Belgian ufologist Godelieve Van Overmeire in her catalog circa 1999, now gone, but much copied by UFO websites and forums. This summary is as follows:

1989, November 29

BELGIUM, Baelen

At approximately 06:50 p.m. Mrs. H. sees an object with powerful white lights and a red light. It glides slowly and silently in the sky towards Eupen. (VOB 1 - SOBEPS 1991, p. 34)

source example:

Luminosity of the sky during this sighting:

18:40
18:50

Localization:

Baelen is at about 5 kilometers West from the center of Eupen.

From the situation map by SOBEPS (source cited above), the witness was in the south end of Baelen.

Notes:

The FSR and SOBEPS summaries give slightly different times for the sighting.

The other observation in Baelen at about the same time is about an object following the same course as given in the sources, but that other one reporteldy had a non-blinking red light and a “weak” sound like a “sewing machine” sound was heard.

In this report, there is neither size nor height nor distance nor duration nor speed in the sources that I managed to get - but they may be in the SOBEPS file. It is obvious that this sighting as I know about it at this time could have been a sighting of any conventional flying machine.

The only thing that can be learned from this is that still another person was intrigued by an object passing in the sky that night in Eupen.
