Observation of light in the sky of Alsace (position Rohrwiller67)
February 25, 2018.
Going to bed I saw through the window an object ( or lights ) changing color from blue to red to white.
Fixed UFO that was seeen [sic] from 00:15 to 1:15
Its [sic] position seemed very far away, hard to see even with binoculars.
A fixed "UFO", seen for an hour at night, difficult to see, changing color from blue to red to white, this must suggest an astronomical misinterpretation: a star or possibly a planet.
The report is unfortunately very poor, notably lacking a direction indication and an elevation indication.
Possible bright stars were: Deneb (14°, 5.6°), Vega (38°, 9°), Sirius (228°, 11°), Rigel (251°, 5°) and Aldebaran (275°, 17°).
At 01:15, Deneb is still at 9°, Vega at 15°, Sirius at 3°, Rigel is set at -4°, Aldebaran is still at 7.5°.
If the end of the observation is that of a star passing behind the horizon, Sirius is perfect.
Probable star.
