ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. Summary:

On October 24, 2014, the website of the regional newspaper "Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace" headlined about a "UFO over Tieffenbach".

The article told that one "Mario", of Tieffenbach, had seen "a weird show Tuesday morning" so on October 21, 2014, in the sky of Tieffenbach. "It was a contrail of a particular form."

In fact, as shown in the photo published with the article, visible below in this file, there was no reason at all to talk about a UFO: this was just a looped condensation trail.

A UFO above the village

Mario of Tieffenbach witnessed a strange spectacle in the sky of Tieffenbach on Tuesday morning. He observed a condensation trail of a particular form.

Discussion:

The newspaper must have been in pain to tell anything interesting that day; so "UFO" scoffing helped.

Unless of course that since 2014, aliens started to use spaceship that leave contrails, a feature that seems to me quite unprecedented in the UFO literature...
