ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Case of Strasbourg, on March 1, 2003:

Case number:

ALSACAT-2003-03-01-STRASBOURG-1

Summary:

The Alsatian ufology association SPICA indicated on the web that they had received on March 2, 2003, a report by Fabienne, of Strasbourg, who told that she and her friend heard on March 1, 2003, around 11:30 p.m. "the same sound as in the August evening."

The sky was clouded because of bad weather, so they observed nothing, the mre so as they took too much time to go to the window, first thinking it was an ordinary plane.

The noise started slowly in the distance to become very strong over them and fade again, to become stronger for a moments like "if it came back to us and disappeared."

The two people were not in the same room and concerted later to arrive at the conclusion that they had already heard the noise that had alerted them in August.

Fabienne took the opportunity to ask SPICA where they stood in their research - about this noise, probably, she probably already reported the noise of August.

SPICA indicated that their investigation was ongoing; and in 2015, in their list of observations in the Lower Rhine, they indicated to have no explanation to offer, for lack of information.

Received on March 2. 2003

My friend and I heard last night around 11:30 p.m. the same noise as during the evening of last August, the sky being blocked because of the bad weather we did not observe anything, it must be said that we took a long time to go to the window, first of all thinking of an ordinary plane. The noise started softly in the distance to become very loud above us and subside again, it grew louder again for a few moments as if it came back towards us and disappeared. We weren't in the same room and we agreed later to come to the conclusion that we had already heard this noise which had alerted us in August.

I saw fit to warn you, otherwise where are you with your research?

Fabienne from Strasbourg

The investigation is ongoing

Discussion:

Map.

This is hardly intriguing: not only was no UFO seen, but what was heard was initially thought to be the sound of an airplane by the witnesses themselves. Without any real indication of strangeness, it is possible that it was just that.

Evaluation:

Probable plane or helicopter noise, no UFO seen.
