On the 6th [of October 1973] in Brunstatt (suburb of Mulhouse), 6:47 p.m. - At 6:47 p.m. very exactly, several people were able to see, in the sky over Brunstatt, two UFOs, lit with an orange light, traveling towards Altkirch... and suddenly turn off one after the other. ("L'Alsace" of 11/7/73, transmitted by F.D.).

With the sparse information available to me for now, what could I say?
Altkirch in the the south of Brunstatt.
To the South, there was Jupiter in the sky at 192°, elevation 21°. To the Southwest, Venus at 222°, elevation 3° 5':
This could be the cause of the sighting, but it is not entirely convincing. Jupiter appears orange-colored, but not Venus; which is buish white. And we are told of a move towards Altikirch whereas these planets would have appeared almost motionless.
Of course, this could have been Chinese lanterns, planes, whatever...
Totally insufficient information.
