The biyearly ufology bulletin Phénomènes Inconnus, of the Cercle Français de Recherches Scentifiques (CFRS), #12 of 1970 published a sighting report noted by Gérard Morin, of the "Poitou-Charente" section of the CFRS in Poitiers:
One weekday in October 1954, at 5 a.m., Mr. and Mrs. G.., from Poitiers, were driving on Route Nationale 151 with their two sleeping children towards Issoudun and found themselves between Blanc and Châteauroux.
They then saw in the light of their headlights an object appear on the right side of the road, at ground level, then rise at 45°, crossing the road obliquely in front of their car, at high speed. Then the object disappeared from the field of vision of the windshield. The driver, Mr. G..., looked in his rear view mirror but saw nothing.
The duration of the observation was approximately 3 seconds.
We are told that the distance was 30 meters at the beginning and 10 meters at the end of the observation.
The object was described as cylindrical, 2 meters long and 1 meter in diameter; the middle and rear were like corrugated iron, the front was narrowed and bulging, hemispherical; the rear was truncated. The color was white-gray metallic in appearance, not luminous. The object was silent, with no flames or smoke.
The road was going downhill, and there was no noticeable influence on the operation of the car. The kids in the back did not wake up.
The two witnesses, quite frightened, immediately and separately made skecthes of the object to compare what they had seen, and these sketches matched.
Mr. and Mrs. G.. had never spoken of their observation, they unfortunately no longer remember the precise date. Gérard Morin specifies that it was because he knew them personally that they agreed to communicate their testimony to him.

Observation report.
Investigation by Gérard Morin - Section "Poitou-Charente" of the CFRS (CIESPI - Poitiers).
Date: October 1954, a weekday.
Time: 5 in the morning.
Location: On the R.N, 151, between Blanc and Châteauroux.
Object description:
Cylindrical, 2 m. long and 1 m. of diameter. The middle and back like corrugated iron, narrowed and bulging (hemispherical) front - truncated back. Color: white-grey with a metallic look, not luminous. Silent. No flames or smoke.
Duration of observation: Approximately 3 seconds.
Distance: From 30 m. at the beginning to 10 m. at the end of the observation.

Before 1972, Route Nationale 151 ran from Poitiers to Givry with a common trunk with the RN 20 between Lothiers and Châteauroux. "Blanc" is certainly "Le Blanc". We are told that the witnesses were on this road between Blanc and Chateauroux, going towards Issoudin; the road is now the D951, the witnesses were therefore driving from west to east then to the northeast. This is a trip of about 60 kilometers. It is therefore not known exactly near which known they were.

I have no solid idea about what trivial phenomenon explains this observation.
The least worst would suppose that there was a very strong wind blowing a piece of cardboard or even a pice of corrugated iron over the road. Unfortunately the report does not tell us about the weather conditions.
I therefore leave the case as "unidentified".
