Jean Tyrode was a teacher at Evillers in the Doubs in the 1950s; he said he himself had witnessed a dozen or so UFO observations in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. He became passionate about the matter and conducted numerous field investigation in the Doubs: which he communicated to the ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit.
One of the first observations he reported was described in this magazine in 1969:
One June, between 1952 and 1957, Jean Tyrode was standing with others on the front steps of the Evillers cheese dairy, around 6 p.m., in broad daylight.
On the left, appeared a dark "thing", without light, almost black, not reflecting the sun, producing no perceptible noise, a few hundred meters from the group.
The "thing" was following a north-east to southwest trajectory fifty meters above the ground and disappeared to the right, hidden by the houses.

Fernand Lagarde liste des observations faites par Jean Tyrode, devenu ufologue, dans le secteur d'Evillers dans le Doubs, dont:
1° BETWEEN 1952 AND 1957.
One day in June, Mr. TYRODE, in the company of other people, was standing on the doorsteps of the EVILLERS Cheese Factory, (see map) at about 6 p.m, broad daylight.
On the left, a dark "thing" appeared, without light, almost black. Producing no noticeable noise, a few hundred meters from the group, the "thing" following a trajectory NE-SW, fifty meters above the ground. (See sketch A).
The object disappeared on the right, hidden by the houses.
Although opposite the sun, one saw no reflection.

Unidentified, possible plane or distant helicopter.
In "skeptical" ufologist circles, I often heard the comment that the problem with Jean Tyrode's personal observations - and his numerous investigations reports - is their suspicious high number.
