In 1979, in their book "La Grande Peur Martienne" ("The Great Martian Scare"), the "skeptical" ufologists Gérard Barthel and Jacques Brucker indicated that there had been an observation on October 7, 1954, at 09:30, in Les Choux, in Loiret, and that their investigation showed that what was seen was "very high in the sky" and "distorted by the press."
