The regional newspaper L'Ardennais, from Charleville-Mézières in the Ardennes, for January 9, 1954, reported that the luminous phenomenon observed on January 7, 1954, in the region of Dieppe had also been seen the same day in several communes of the Ardennes, where night walkers clearly distinguished, around 4:30 a.m., a ball of fire moving at high speed across the sky, leaving a luminous trail behind it.
Among the witnesses were four gendarmes from Mézières on patrol in the area, who specified that the phenomenon disappeared after illuminating the sky like lightning.
No sound was heard.

In our previous issue, we reported on the luminous phenomenon that appeared Thursday morning in the region of Dieppe, where this nocturnal apparition ended in an explosion that opened many doors and shattered several windows in the town.
Without manifesting itself with such violence, the phenomenon was nevertheless observed in several communes of the Ardennes, where night walkers clearly saw, around 4:30 a.m., a fireball moving at high speed across the sky, leaving a luminous trail behind it.
The witnesses - among them four gendarmes from Mézières on patrol in the area - stated that the phenomenon disappeared after lighting up the sky like lightning.
They did not, however, hear any sound, which is explained by the fact that the final explosion occurred several hundred kilometers from our region. We will not complain about that, since in this case it would be difficult for the victims to apply the rule: "You break it, you pay for it."
