Reports:

[Ref. atf1:] THE FRENCH ARMY:

Brigade of La Fère, section of Laon, compagny of the Aisne.

Statement:

We report on our visit to the PC of the major commanding the 1/15 RA [Artillery Regiment], who specifies us the following facts: the events occurred inside the Drouot district and the investigation is done by captain L[-], security officer of the 1/15 RA. We are put in touch with the captain in charge of the investigation.

Captain L[-] informs us on the information that he collected and reads for us some extracts of his report that are as follows:

On October 6, 1954, at approximately 09:30 p.m., gunner D. Robert, guard of material of the battery of command, sees, from his room, a gleam. He goes outside and crosses 50 meters. He has the sudden feeling to be stopped by a strange and powerful force which freezes him on the spot, prohibiting any reaction from him.

He sees at this time, at a few meters in front of him, a very luminous object in the shape of a shell of 80 cm approximately in height and, on the right, another object plated on the ground, of poorly definined shape.

At the same moment, gunner D. Robert hears a sound comparable to a command which causes to gather the ogival shape. The multicoloured craft rises in the atmosphere in a very luminous purple flash, being transformed at one time to a ball of fire before disappearing. The rise of the object was of the order of ten seconds, a duration during which gunner D. Robert had the impression to be taken in a very intense ray of light. Having recovered his movements, gunner D. Robert immediately joined his room in such a state of stupor that he remained unable to pronounce the least word during a quarter of hour.

The gunner Mr. Bernard, outgoing in his turn, is invaded by strange gleams, which forbid him to approach the indicated location.

The gunners P. Louis and Mr. Pierre, in guard duty at the ammunition storage located at 300 or 500 meters from there, state to have seen, at approximately 09:30 p.m., two very luminous flashes which impressed them.

Only for the puprose of remaining objective, is must be noted that gunner D. Robert, before leaving his room, read Radar magazine, which refers to the flying saucers. It may be that impressed by these accounts the gunner was victim of a hallucination.

This man appears of sound mind and very sincere in his statements.

Note: "Radar" was the title of a weekly tabloid magazine that had offered a million francs of that time to the first person able to deliver a captive Martian to them.

[Ref. jgu1:] JIMMY GUIEU:

The author indicates that on October 6, 1954 at about 09:30 p.m., in the yard of barracks where an artillery regiment was lodged, gunner Robert D sees from his window a strange luminous craft in the shape of a gunshell, 80 centimeters hight by 3 to 4 meters in length. Another craft his at its right, not so high, of badly definided form. Robert D, puzzled, left his room and walked in the yard toward the craft.

He was suddenly thrown at the ground by a mysterious force which paralyzed him.

Gunner Bernard M who looked at this from another window rushed outside to help his comrade, but arrived close to him he was also thrown on the ground and unable to do the least move.

Two other gunners on duty 300 meters from there vaguely saw the event, but clearly saw the luminosity of the machine, which soon took off, and after that the witnesses were able to stand up, unharmed but impressed, and they went to report the case to their officers.

Jimmy Guieu indicates that he obtained this information from Gendarmerie colonel B who had him promise not to tell the witnesses names.

Near the military barracks, soldiers saw a strange object on the ground about 300 meters away. While one of them approached the object; which was shaped like a torpedo about 80 centimeters tall, he was paralyzed.

[Ref. pdl1:] PIERRE DELVAL:

In his chapter on the cases of paralysis or drousiness of UFO witnesses during their experience, Pierre Delval indicates 12 cases from the French flap of 1954, among those, that at the military barracks of la Fère in the department of the Aisne, on October 6, 1954 at 09:30 p.m..

From the window of his barrack room, gunner Robert D. saw a luminous apparatus, shell-shaped, from 3 to 4 meters length and 2 meters diameter posed in the yard of the barracks at 300 meters. It seemed that there was a second object of vague shape behind this one.

When the gunner wanted to approach, it was throen on the ground, "paralysed by a mysterious force."

Gunner Bernard Mr., who attended the scene, wanted to help him and underwent the same fate, also projected on the ground and unable to make the least move.

Other soldiers attended the scene from farther away, and did not feel any similar effect.

When the craft or the two craft left, the two gunners recovered the use of their members.

[Ref. fru1:] MICHEL FIGUET AND JEAN-LOUIS RUCHON:

The two authors indicate that in La Fère in the department of the Aisne on October 6, 1954, at 09:30 p.m., the gunner Robert D..., from the window of his barrack room, sees in the court of the barracks a strange luminous apparatus in the shape of a shell, high of 80 centimetres by three to four meters length, posed on the ground.

On its right, there is a second object of poorly definite shape. Puzzled, the witness leaves his barrack room. Arrived in the court of the district, he goes towards the apparatus. Suddenly, he is paralysed and thrown on the ground by a mysterious force. Another gunner, Bernard M... who looks from the window, rushes outside to help his comrade. He undergoes the same fate.

Two other soldiers, in service within 300 meters from here witness the scene and notice the luminescence of the machine. The machine is not long in taking off and disappears in the sky. The gunners stand up with no harm and go to report the event to their officers.

[Ref. fbn1:] FABRICE BONVIN:

The author indicates that on October 6, 1954 at 21:30 in La Fère, the Aisne, France, two soldiers observed the landing of a UFO which they said was "in the shape of a shell" in the barracks yard.

The author quotes that "the two witnesses are paralysed and thrown on the ground by a mysterious force while wanting to approach the intruder, effects which disappear after the takeoff of the craft."

He indicates that the source is Jean Sider, page 246 of "La Vague de 1954 ou l'Imposture Rationaliste" Ramuel publishers in 1997.

He comments on that it is one of two things: either the UFO knew that it would show himself to soldiers and knowingly took the shape of an "artifact" known of the soldiers, or they compare it to a "shell" in the "military jargon" which they are familiar with. He indicates that the case constitutes a contemporary example of the "mimetic property" of the UFOS which would be "real or semantics".

[Ref. lcn1:] LUC CHASTAN:

Luc Chastan indicates that in the Aisne in La Fère on October 6, 1954 at 21:30 hours, gunner Robert D..., from the window of his barrack room, sees, in the barracks yard, a strange luminous craft in the shape of a gunshell, 80 centimetres high by three to four meters length, posed on the ground. On its right is a second object of badly definite form. Intrigued, the witness leaves his barrack room. Arrived in the district yard, he moves towards the craft. Suddenly, he is paralysed and thrown on the ground by a mysterious force. Another gunner, Bernard M... who looks at it by the window, rushes out to help his comrade. He undergoes the same fate. Two other soldiers, on duty 300 meters from there have a glimpse at the scene and notice the luminescence of the craft. The craft soon takes off and disappears in the sky. *Oct. 6, 1954 - On this evening Mr. and Mrs. Laroche from Paris saw a fiery sphere land near Chantonnay, Monchamps, France. At 9:30 p.m. near the military barracks in La Fere, France some soldiers saw a strange torpedo-shaped object on the ground 300 meters away. As one of them approached the craft, which stood about 80 cm high, he found himself paralyzed. Finally, at 10:30 p.m. two women, Mrs. Salabrino and her adult daughter, saw a whitish light in the western sky in Villers-le-Lac, France. It seemed to slowly approach the ground, and was later seen between the railway station and the bridge 100 meters away from their house. When it moved, a very bright light was visible under its dark mass. It gave off a flow of sparks and rose, hovered for a moment, and then flew away rapidly. LA FERE (AISNE : FRANCE)

A gunner Robert D was in his room in the military barracks when his attention was attracted by a glow that lit up the room. He went out to investigate, and having gone 50m he saw stopped by a force which held him to the spot. Some distance ahead of him he saw a brilliant shell shaped object 80cm high, 3-4m long, and another indistinct form on the ground to its right. He heard a sound "like a command" which seemed to gather the object together and the multi-coloured object took off with a bright purple flash, disappearing as a fiery sphere in just 10 seconds. As it did so, Robert felt himself caught in an intense beam of light. After this Robert returned to his room, so shaken that he could not speak. Another gunner Bernard M went out to help, but was also struck by the light. Two other soldiers saw brilliant flashes. There was an official investigation.
