In their catalog of cases of 1954 in the Vosges department, the ufology group Cercle Vosgien Lumières Dans la Nuit noted in 1984 a case coming from handwritten notes of the time by "Jean D.", brother of the witness Paul D.
At Gérardmer, on Sunday, September 5, 1954 at 10:30 p.m., Paul and Micheline D., observed for nearly half an hour a strange ash gray cluster "on top of R.", cigar-shaped according to Micheline D., while Paul D., compared it to a part of the Milky Way so something nebulous without precise shape and seeming to be "a bundle of saucers."
"From this strange thing, bright spots like slow shooting stars were emerging in all directions, and finally they saw 3 of them descending, swaying in dead leaves motion and disappearing! No change of color, no noise."
Catalogue editor François Diolez noted that Pierre D. died in 1964, and that Claude Fleurance could not, after telephone contact on September 26, 1983, meet Micheline D., who alleged a too distant memory and a total lack of interest and did not want to talk about this observation, while "Paul D. was also very interested in the 'saucer phenomenon.'"

GERARDMER - SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 5, 1954
10:30 p.m. Local time.
Witnesses: Paul and Micheline D... (Paul is the brother of Jean and Pierre D... he died in 1964)
Sources: Handwritten notes by Jean D ... from the time
"Paul and Mimi observe for nearly half an hour a strange ash gray cluster on the top of R..., in the shape of a cigar says Mimi. Paul compares it to part of the Milky Way: so something nebulous without precise shape and seeming to be a bunch of saucers.
From this strange thing radiate luminous dots similar to shooting stars (much slower) in all directions. Finally they saw 3 descend swaying like dead leaves and disappear! No color change, no noise".
Note: Claude FLEURANCE was unable, after telephone contact on 09/26/83, to meet Micheline O ... who, alleging too distant a memory and a total lack of interest, does not want to talk about this observation.
Note that Paul O... was also very interested in the "Saucer Phenomenon".

[Ref. cnu1:] CNEGU:
The CNEGU notes that their case F/98/88540905 is that of Gerardmer on Sunday, September 5, 1954 at 10:30 p.m. local time, whose witnesses are Paul and Micheline D., Paul being the brother of Jean and Pierre D. and being deceased in 1964.
The story is that "Paul and Mimi observe during nearly half an hour a strange ashes-gray cluster on the top of R., in the shape of a cigar says Mimi. Paul, on his side, compare it with part of the Milky Way: therefore something nebulous without precise form and seeming to be a bunch of saucers."
"From this strange thing luminous points departed, similar to shooting stars, much slower, in all directions. Finally they saw 3 of them go down while swinging like falling leaves and disappear! No change of color, no noise."
The CNEGU notes that Claude Fleurance could not, after telephone contact on September 26, 1983, meet Micheline D., who pled a too remote memory and a total lack of interest and did not want to speak about this observation. They note that Paul D. was himself also very interested by the "saucer phenomenon."
The source is handwritten notes of the time by Jean D.
