In his 1997 book on the French wave of 1954, ufologist and author Jean Sider indicated that the newspaper Le Républicain Lorrain, of Metz, for October 6, 1954, reported on page 3 that on October 5, 1954 at 23:15, in the Moselle department, at the top of the Saint-Julien hill at the crossroads of Bouzonville and Thionville, a person who remained anonymous saw a craft in a field, and was so surprised that he fell off his bicycle.
At the same time, said Sider, the object took off gently in a cloud of white smoke. The witness said he saw a red light and traces left in the field by the mysterious aircraft.
