Ufologists Michel Figuet and Jean-Louis Ruchon indicated in their 1979 book on close encounters in France that in Angoulême in the Charente department, on October 5, 1954, there was an observation of a "cigar with saucers."

Luc Chastan indicates that in the Charente in Angoulème on October 5, 1954 at an unknown hour there was an observation of a cigar accompanied by saucers.
