Summary:

French ufologist and author Jean Sider found in the newspaper Les Nouvelles du Morbihan for November 14, 1954, the story of an observation of November 5, 1954, in Fontainguet in the Côtes-d'Armor:

Georges Rocaboy, a threshing contractor in Ville-Ermel-en-Plessala, drove late in the evening to Saint-Vran to drive a friend home, then returned around midnight.

When he found himself around the village of Fontainguet at the crossroads of Laurenant and Saint-Lambert roads, he realized that he had made a mistake and turned back in the small road where he was, but the rear wheels of his car got stuck into the shallow moat. The car was skating and he had to ask for help from a neighboring farmer, Mr. Goudin.

While Mr. Goudin was pushing the back of the car, he saw above him a sort of very luminous flying cigar appearing to be only fifty meters above him. Mr. Goudin took Mr. Rocaboy out of the car and showed him the phenomenon.

The journalists said they questioned Mr. Rocaboy and he described the object as a long tube with all the colors of the rainbow, which did not seem to move and whose dimensions seemed to be about 2.50 meters long and about 30 centimeters in diameter. This tube was not alone; above was another craft of the same shape that seemed to be 400 meters high and to have a much buîgger size.

This larger tube seemed to control the smaller one because the witnesses realized that the two objects were coming down to the car whose lights were on and remained lit.

The two men panicked and fled, Mr. Rocaboy hiding behind a hedge while Mr. Gourdin went to alert the Pirio neighbors. Mr. Pirio was able to see the phenomenon.

The car was then fully illuminated. The three men then approached the vehicle and all disappeared as if by magic.

Mr. Rocaboy told reporters that the two craft may be compared to neon tubes, that they glowed in different colors but mostly blue and green. He was especially struck by the fact that the two craft moved at the same time from top to bottom, which gave him the impression that one commanded the other.

[Ref. jsr1:] JEAN SIDER:

French ufologist and author Jean Sider found this case in the newspaper "Les Nouvelles du Morbihan" for November 14, 1954 and reproduced the content of the article.

The article says that on Friday of the last week, Georges Rocaboy, a beating contractor in Ville-Ermel-en-Plessala had driven by car late in the evening to Saint Vran to take back a friend at his place there, and then drove back from there around midnight.

When he was near the village of Fontainguet at the crossroads between the roads of Laurenant and the road of Saint-Lambert, he realized that he had taken the wrong way and went into reverse gear in the small way where he was, but the aft wheels of his car came to a halt in the not so deep ditch. The car slid and he had to ask for the assistance to a nearby farmer, Mr. Goudin.

While Mr. Goudin pushed at the rear of the car, he saw above him a sort of very luminous flying cigar, appearing to be to only one about fifty meters above him. Mr. Goudin made Mr. Rocaboy get out of the car and showed him the phenomenon.

The author of the newspaper's article indicates that they questioned Mr. Rocaboy and that he described the object as being like a long tube having all the colors of the rainbow. The object did not seem to move and its dimensions seemed to be of approximately 2 meters 50 of length and 30 centimetres in diameter. This tube was not alone; above it, was another apparatus with the same shape which seemed to be at 400 meters of height and to have much larger dimensions.

This larger tube seemed to control the smallest tube because the witnesses realized that the two objects went down towards to the car whose headlights were lit and remained lit.

The two men were seized with panic and fled, Mr. Rocaboy hiding behind a hedge while Mr. Gourdin went to alert the Pirios, some neighbors. Mr. Pirio subsequently saw the phenomenon.

The car was then entirely illuminated. The three men then approached the vehicle and all disappeared as by magic.

Mr. Rocaboy specified to the journalists that the two machines could be compared with fluorescent tubes used at that time for lighting [meaning: neon light tubes], that they emitted gleams of various colors but more in the blue and the green. He was particularly struck by the fact that both craft moved at the same time from top to bottom, which gave him the impression that one controlled the other.

Luc Chastan indicates in his database that in the Côtes d'Armor in Lerignac, on November 5, 1954, at 11:59 p.m., "the witness is in the car coming from St Vran at the location Fontainguet. Having taken the wrong road he makes a U turn and stucks the aft wheels of his vehicle. A Person comes to help him. The latter was pushing the car when he sees above him a kind of very luminous flying cigar seeming to be at about fifty meters only. He calls the driver who gets out of car. The object has all the colors of the rainbow it does not seem to move. Its size is estimated as 2m50 in length and 30 cm broad. The two witnesses realize that another object of greater dimension is a little further. The largest seems to control the small one and both go down towards the car. The two men get grightened. One of them hides behind a hedge, the other goes to alert a neighbor. A third witness also observes the objects which entirely light the car. The three men regain courage approach and the two objects disappear as by magic."

I see no conventional explanation for these events; this was possibly some sort of extraterrestrial probe.
