The regional newspaper La Vendée Libre for October 17, 1954, indicated that there was a persistent rumor about a resident of Pissotte having seen a flying saucer; so they visited her.
She was Mrs. Narcisse Thouard, living in the suburb of Pissotte, who was kind enough to answer their questions.
The newspaper pointed out that Mrs. Thouard "is not fancyful and that her story, very short indeed, must be taken seriously." She told them:
"- I was going to return at my home, Monday 4, at abour 09:30 P.M., when above the neighbouring houses, at a certain height, I saw a luminous disc of the dimension of a plate, surrounded by a very shining halation. Being very constrained to distinguish the machine, I walked faster to return to my garden and to alert my neighbors, when, my eyes having left the disc a few moments, I did not see it any more."
"I told that to my husband and my neighbors, but nobody wanted to believe me but, however, I am affirmative on this matter: I told what I saw."
The newspaper added that in the region, several people said they saw that day a craft corresponding to what Mrs. Thouard said, "which, all the same, gives some proof of authenticity" to her statement.

Pissotte
The talking spread with persistence that one woman residing in Pissotte had seen a flying saucer. We paid visit to this person, Mrs. Narcisse Thouard, living in the middle of the suburb of Pissotte, who agreed to answer our questions.
Let us underline immediately that Mrs. Thouard is nothing of a fantasist and that her account, a very short one besides, must be taken seriously.

Let us add besides that, in the area, several people claimed to have seen that day a machine corresponding to that Mrs. Thouard wrote for us. What, all the same, gives a certain proof of authenticity to the declarations of our interlocutress of Pissotte.
