Summary:

Author Jean Sider, in a catalog of previously unpublished cases from 1954 in France published by the ufology magazine Lumières Dans La nuit #325 of January - February 1994, reports a series of cases in the Morbihan department dated November 4, 1954; which he found in the newspaper Les Nouvelles du Morbihan for November 14, 1954.

Witnesses in the villages of Morbihan, including that of Kerlay, reportedly gave their testimonies, very similar to that of Le Sourn, which would therefore be a very luminous oval phenomenon on the move at 6.30 in the morning.

I indeed found this reported in the newspaper La Liberté du Morbihan, for November 7, 1954.

Flying Saucers in the Sky Over Melrand

The sky over Melrand has also received a visit from these mysterious craft that are so much talked about lately. Several people have reported precise and indisputable facts, and to ensure their sincerity is not questioned, they have authorized us to publish their names—unlike others who prefer, as is their right, to remain anonymous.

But let's get to the facts. On Thursday morning, around 6:30 a.m., Mr. Jacques Le Clainche and Mr. Joseph Postic, both farmers in Locmaria, were quite surprised to find, upon stepping out of their homes and into the courtyard of their farm, that it was as bright as midday despite the early hour. They then saw, above the village at low altitude, a craft of white color, extremely luminous and oval in shape, which quickly disappeared to the south while seeming to roll over itself. Greatly intrigued, the two honest farmers informed their neighbors and those around them of the phenomenon.

That same day, at the same time, Mrs. Le Corre, from Kerven, who was taking an early morning walk in the fields near the village, also saw a craft identical in every respect to the one seen by Mr. Le Clainche and Mr. Postic. She was struck by the intense brightness emitted by the "saucer" as it passed.

That same day as well, the phenomenon was observed in Guérillec, Kermet, Kerlay, in the town center, and certainly elsewhere too.

Another incident, which dates back to October 15, was told to us by Mr. Raymond Le Pabic, a shopkeeper in the town center. On that day, he was driving toward Pontivy. It was exactly 8:30 a.m. The weather was gloomy and rain was threatening. As he exited the town, on the Kerrivalain hill, a light suddenly reflected on the windshield of his car. He was understandably surprised, since there was no sun. That's when he saw, in the direction of Pontivy and apparently above the same village of Locmaria mentioned earlier, an extremely bright craft the size and shape of a basin descending straight down while spinning. The phenomenon lasted only a few seconds—at least for our witness—before disappearing on the horizon.

The people we have mentioned are highly respected in Melrand and elsewhere. Their honesty, let us repeat, is indisputable and cannot be doubted.

November 4 [1954], 7 a.m., Le Sourn, Morbihan

(This case is more or less well corroborated by other sightings made that same morning in the region, some of which deserve a short quotation. J.S.)

Leaving their farm at 6:30 a.m., MM. Jacques Leclainche and Joseph Postic, farmers in Locmaria, were surprised to find that one was able to see as clearly as in daylight. They distinguished, at a low height, an oval craft, white and of great luminosity; which disappeared towards the south, as if rolling on itself.

It is apparently the same phenomenon that Mrs. Le Corre, from Kervern, witnessed, also at 6:30 a.m. Other witnesses, in Guériellec, in Kermer, in Kerlay and in Melrand, provided very similar testimonies.

At 7 a.m., the phenomenon was observed by several residents of Pontivy. Around the same time, a farmer from Kerhulu [a place near Le Sourn], who was driving his horse to the blacksmith, arriving near Kerserre [?], near of Le Sourn, was literally dazzled by two very bright lights, seeming to come from two headlights. The man and the animal remained for a moment frozen in place by fear. Almost immediately, a craft rose from the ground, gained height, and disappeared.

Dazzled by the light, the man could not make out many details. He estimates that the craft could measure between 5 and 7 m in length.

Later, when the day came, he returned to the scene to search for possible traces, but found none. It should be noted that at the time of his observation, a resident of the town noticed a luminous ball in the sky, so luminous "that one could have seen a pin on the ground."

Map.

Given the number of sightings for this November 4, 1954 around 6:30 - 7:00 a.m. in the Morbihan, given the fact that those which have been at least some description attached suggest a meteor, this observation said concordant with the others was certainly also an observation of this meteor.
