The regional newspaper La Croix du Nord, of Lille, Pas-de-Calais, and Nord-Matin in the Avesnes issue on page 3 for the same date, reported on page 2 on October 30, 1954, that on Tuesday, October 26, 1954, around 5:30 a.m., going to his guard duty on behalf of the Société des Forces de la Providence, Hautmont factory, Mr. Louis Blanquart, residing rue de Pantegnies in Pont-sur-Sambre, being at "Pont Mauricaud", at the limits of the territories of the municipalities of Pont-sur-Samble, Bachant, and Saint-Rémi-du-Nord, had seen in the sky "a craft in the shape of a small ball of fire, moving at an incredible speed from the west in the east, leaving behind a shower of sparks. The object was at a very great distance."
Mr. Blanquart, former member of the gendarmerie, first said nothing about it, fearing that he would not be believed. But on Friday, a factory guard, Mr. René Mauve, rue de Maubeuge, said he saw the same thing at the same hour and in the same place. In addition, Mr. Blanquart learned that a worker from Neuf-Mesnil had also seen the same thing at the same hours; it was then that he decided to report what he had seen.

Tuesday, October 26, around 5:30 a.m., going to his work which consists of surveyance on behalf of the Société des Forces de la Providence, Hautmont factory, Mr. Louis Blanquart, residing in Pont-sur-Sambre, rue de Pantegnies, being at the "Pont Mauricaud", borders of the territories of the municipalities of Pont-sur-Samble, Bachant, and Saint-Rémi-du-Nord, saw in the sky a craft having the shape of a small ball of fire, moving at an incredible speed from west to east, leaving behind a shower of sparks. The object was at a very long distance.
Mr. Blanquart, a former member of the gendarmerie, first feared that he would not be believed, which is what motivated his late revelation. He didn't say a word to anyone at first, but on Friday, a factory guard, Mr. René Mauve, rue de Maubeuge, said he had seen the same "apparition" at the same hour and in the same place.
On the other hand, Mr. Blanquart learned that a worker from Neuf-Mesnil had seen the same thing always on the same date and jour as scheduled. It was then that he decided to reveal what he had seen.

Last Tuesday around 5:30 in the morning, going to his work which consists of watch service on behalf of the Société des Forges de la Providence factory of Haumont (Nord), our compatriot Mr. Louis Blanquart, residing in Pont-sur-Sambre, rue de Pantegnies, located at a place called "Pont Mauricaud" bordering the territories of the municipalities of Pont-sur-Sambre, Bachant, and Saint-Rémy-du-Nord saw in the sky, a craft having the form of a small ball of fire, moving at an incredible speed, from West to East, while leaving behind a shower of sparks. The appearance lasted approximately 2 seconds. The object was at a very great distance.
Our compatriot, former member of the gendarmerie, did not say a word to anyone, but yesterday a factory keeper colleague Mr. René Bauwe, street from Maubeuge to Hautmont said he saw the same apparition at the same time and in the same place. Also, our compatriot learned that a worker from Neuf-Mesnil would have seen the same thing still on the dates and times mentioned above. It was then that he decided to tell us his story.

Tuesday 26, around 5:30 in the morning, going to his work which consists of on-call service on behalf of the Société des Forges de la Providence, Hautmont factory (Nord), our compatriot Mr. Louis Blanquart, residing in Pont-sur-Sambre, rue de Pentegnies, located at a place called Pont Moricaud, on the borders of the municipalities of Pont-sur-Sambre, Bachant and Saint-Rémi-du-Nord, saw in the sky a craft having the shape of a small ball of fire, moving at an incredible speed from west to east, leaving behind a shower of sparks. The apparition lasted about two seconds. The craft was at a great distance.
Our compatriot is of very good faith, he is a former member of the gendarmerie. Yet at first he feared not to be believed and this is what motivates his late revelation. He did not say a word about it to anyone at first, but yesterday, a fellow factory guard, Mr. René Bauve, rue de Maubeuge, in Haumont, recounted seeing the same apparition at the same time and in the same place.
Also, our compatriot learned that a worker from Neuf-Mesnil reportedly saw the same thing, always at the date and time cited above.
It was then that Mr. Blanquart decided to tell us his story.
